What a day! Surely a good excuse to watch Magic's inteview again. Gets me everytime when he talks about the crowd roaring his name at Wembley before kick off!
That is just ridiculous. Just under half my life ago. How on earth has that happened?
What a day though. Absolutely perfect from start to finish. My biggest memory of it strangely enough is sitting on my own in that social club round the corner from Wembley after just mentally exhausted from it all. I went with a large group of people but just had to be on my own for a bit. The enormity of everything hit me for quite a while.
If still annoys me that after Reuser’s goal we get a brief look at Burley jumping for joy then about six seconds of the face-painted sad Barnsley fans. Show the celebrating fans ffs.

The biggest memory for me was actually when the above picture was taken. The moment Reuser scored. We were behind the goal in the upper tier. We knew what he was going to do and he did it. Pandemonium. I looked at my dad. The years had fallen off him. We just went bananas.
After, we found a bar we’d been in before the game for a restorative. It was filled with Barnsley fans and filling with ITFC. The drink flowed and we had more than a restorative. Eventually we got back to Victoria. The trains were limited so we went for a beer. More Barnsley fans, more beer.
We made it home and Mrs C and my mum had done a massive buffet. Cracked open the booze, filled our faces and watched the whole of the Sky recording. All of it. Went to bed about 3am destroyed. Went to work on the Tuesday like Boris Karloff. My dad drove my mum back to Suffolk that morning. Had he been stopped, he’d have melted the breathalyser.
One of my favourite days. Literally everything went well. Even the McDonalds quarter pounder with cheese at lunchtime was a good one.

My mother found some photos when sorting through some of my late father's belongings recently. I scanned a few of them this afternoon so this is the first time they have been shared online.

Thank you for posting those. Talk about bringing back memories. I was actually the other side of the goal further up, so it’s nice to see another perspective.
Old Wembley. I know it was a bit of a mess and needed replacing, but it had a magic the current one just doesn’t have. Maybe that’s just nostalgia on my part.

What a sight those twin towers are (were). Iconic. The arch just doesn't quite have the same effect (although it is still awesome).
