12.30 kick offs next season 11:18 - Jun 8 with 2107 views | rgp1 | As most of you will know, last season 3 games in all 3 divisions kicked off at 12.30. My question is are these games all pre determined when the fixtures are published or do we get screwed over a week before with a fixture change after we've booked hotels and trains etc? So does this mean for example a 12.30 ko for us at say Blackburn or Preston in November will be determined when the fixtures are released?

Yes. EDIT This is what they done last year… confused now as the first two are contradictory?? Within seven days of the 2024/25 Fixture Release selections shall be made in respect of all matches to be played before the end of September. Before the start of the season, selections shall be made in respect of all matches scheduled to be played prior to the end of the third round of the FA Cup (January 2024). By November 1, selections shall be made in respect of all matches to be played between the end of the third round proper of the FA Cup and the first weekend of March. Selections for matches scheduled after the first weekend in March will be made on a four-week rolling basis starting from February 1 (e.g. a selection for the first weekend in April will be selected in the first weekend in March). https://www.efl.com/supporters/faqs/fixtures-and-broadcast/ [Post edited 8 Jun 11:53]

I think the first two work in tandem. Fixtures get announced in mid-June(?), and the TV picks through to 30th September must be announced within seven days of that. The rest of the pre-FAC3 fixtures then need to be announced before the first weekend in August.

I don't mind 12.30 kick-offs on a Saturday. It can mean an early start especially for away games, but for both home and away games it means I get home to Kent much earlier. For example, the 07.07 on a Saturday from where I live gets into Preston at 10.39, with one change of train Of more concern to me are away evening kick-offs which can mean an overnight stay. As an example Leeds had just 13 of 46 games kick off at 3pm this season, Burnley had 19/46. Suspect we'll be closer to the 45-50% mark.

I bet it's nailed on that we'll have something like Middlesbrough away on the Saturday followed by a trip to somewhere like Preston on the Tuesday.

Staying north of the border, a 12.30 home game on a Saturday will mean leaving at 3am or staying over somewhere like Doncaster on the Friday night. Northern away games at that time pose less of a problem! Guaranteed first game will be Portsmouth away with a 12.30ko...

No. The first game will be a "Welcome to the Champs". Like we had Liverpool last year. It will be Wrexham v Town. Nailed on.

For our little group, part of the away experience is being able to sample a few pints of the local ale prior to kick-off. I understand that this is not everyone's cup-of-tea, but 12.00, 12.30 and earlier kick-offs are definitely not our favourites. Friday night kick-offs are also not in our book of delights. However, as everyone says these days, "it is what it is," so we will have to put up with it.

We already know there will be 9 games scheduled for midweek, another 4 on bank holidays plus any games rescheduled because of F A cup involvement. Think it is optimistic for anyone to expect 23 games at 3pm on a Saturday.

That's a very fair point, and is also true of the group I go with.

Leeds and Burnley also had more coverage as they were competing for automatic promotion so seen as more worthy of coverage. I would very much hope the same will be true of Town and so a similar level would be expected. Regardless of TV coverage, nodge fixtures will not be 3 pm kick offs either. I would expect 12.30 or earlier on a Sunday.

I checked this on a couple of club's websites towards the end of the season, and from recollection games were available at £10 on their platform to those based in, or making a "day trip" to, countries where no rights to the games had been sold. And I have just checked Sheffield United's website which says the following. "Live matches Owing to changes made as part of the new broadcasting rights cycle, supporters in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Channel Isles can no longer live stream matches through SUTV. Supporters based outside of these territories will be able to video stream Sheffield United matches this season, providing those matches are not being broadcasted in their region elsewhere. Video streaming packages are available as seasonal and one-off match passes. Supporters based in an “unsold market” (see below for details) can watch every Sheffield United game." "Unsold Markets The following regions are classified as “unsold markets” and therefore can stream all league matches: American Samoa, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Brunei, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Christmas Islands, Cocos Islands, Cook Islands, Cyprus, East Timor, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Fiji, Gambia, Germany, Gibraltar, Guam, Italy, Kiribati Islands, Laos, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania,Luxembourg, Macau, Malta, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nauru, NewCaledonia, Niue, Norfolk Islands, North Korea, North Mariana Islands, Palau, Papa New Guinea, Pitcairn Islands, Poland, Republic of South Sudan, Samoa, Socotra, Soloman Islands, South Tyrol, Spain, Switzerland, Tahiti, Taiwan, Thailand, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvala, Vanuata, Vietnam, Wallis & Futuna, Western Samoa" [Post edited 8 Jun 17:22]
