McKenna 18:39 - Jun 8 with 2156 views | JeremiahBrown | All this speculation about Mckenna going could put players off wanting to come here, so I hope everything is sorted soon one way or another. Preferably he stays.
McKenna on 18:42 - Jun 8 with 2124 views | LeoMuff | Sadly I’m feeling very pessimistic on this, Spurs seem very keen on Frank and sounds like Brentford are keen on Kmac, he would be mad to turn them down. In my mind it’s done, unless someone can give me a good reason it isn’t, please 🙏

McKenna has said he will still be here. Obviously that can change, but he hasn't indicated he won't be.

McKenna on 06:20 - Jun 9 with 1412 views | tetchris | Yep that’s the problem at the moment. Players might not want to come, also MA won’t wan5 to buy players as the new manager might not want them. This ongo8ng speculation is damaging and slowing down next season’s recruitment so if MCK is going to Brentford then it needs sorting quickly
McKenna on 07:25 - Jun 9 with 1234 views | Horsham | But it is just speculation and it really isn’t that intense at the moment so I’d say unless Ashton et al know differently that it’s business as usual. The last thing McKenna said publicly about his future is that he’s staying. So that’s where we are.
McKenna on 07:35 - Jun 9 with 1195 views | Axeldalai_lama | Presumably it will affect those staying too. New contracts and players wanting transfers. A lot to get set it stone. If it all goes well then we could really build this window and potentially have a great season building momentum. But if it all starts unravelling it could be a big old mess and a lost opportunity. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

There isn't even a vacancy there at the moment so it's hard to sort it quickly!

Even if there is a vacancy it’ll probably be the only job going in the Premier League so would imagine given the all the kudos and money that goes with that it won’t just be KMac in the frame for it.

What's your gut feeling Joe, do you think he goes? I know people remark about size of club, stadium & fanbase etc but this is the best job McKenna is going to get offered now isn't it. Even if he stays with us and gets us promoted, the best job he can hope for is a lowering mid table prem team. Bournemouth, Brentford, Palace or Fulham if he's lucky. If he is Brentford's choice I just can't see him passing this one up. Particularly he probably reflects on the Palace and Brighton offers now as missed opportunities. The only hope for us, if he goes, is it's still relatively early in the summer to not completely derail us. Danny Rohl is still on the market and he'd be a very good replacement I think.

Its looking very likely there will be a vacancy there soon. The sheer amount of noise around Frank to Spurs and no party seemingly denying it makes it all feel like s bit of a formality that one. Still doesn't mean KM necessarily goes to Brentford, and as you say I would imagine they'll have a lot of options, but its a move that would make a lot of sense for him IMO. I think we're more exposed at the moment than we were last year given we had just gone up and he had the prospect of managing us in the premier league. The case for moving is a bit more compelling now, but if he stays then fair play to him that would be a real show of loyalty.

He would be mad to turn Brentford down if they came calling. That's basically the club we now aspire to be and they're already set up to do it all and performing well. If he did stay, I think I'd question his logic!

Don’t disagree with anything there. If everything plays out with Frank going to Spurs and should Brentford decide they want McKenna then he probably goes. But I think there’s a lot of uncertainties that will determine if they want him, and they’ll have choices and some of those might be cheaper and more attractive than KMac. Worth also considering that if KMac goes well have arguably the most attractive vacancy in the English leagues. We should be spoiled for choice ourselves.

It's a really difficult one - McKenna was much more forthright with regards to being here next season when asked about it, compared to last year where he really deliberately fudged what he was saying to not be clear. We've seen this year that the gap between the clubs in the current Yo-Yo status and 'The 17' is massive so any job in that cohort has to be very attractive of showing what you can do in the PL when on a more level playing field. But Brentford have overperformed under Frank, I'm pretty sure they are 17th in most financial metrics like fees paid, wages paid etc, they've finished 9th, 16th and 10th in the last 3 seasons......what can McKenna do there that Frank hasn't managed? And if they do slide back a bit as you'd expect then is his career prospects enhanced by coming 15th, 15th and 16th? In that regard it is a 'risky' job in that 17 club league, their recruitment is excellent, but it's not on the same level as a Brighton now, gravity will likely get them at some point. But it would be very hard to turn down if offered it - my gut is he doesn't go; but guess that doesn't mean a lot!

That doesn't necessarily follow on a personal level. He hasn't got a club to that position, he has just dropped in after 'failing' to get one to that level on his own bat. Is how he might see it. Would make sense to take it and I wouldn't begrudge him, but he *may* feel that he wants to really crack on with this project, or equally that he's done. Basically nobody knows, and only he knows his motivations for the next few years, there's risks in it all. Just decide quickly please Kieran.
