Given there has been no comment from Phil, this might have legs

I hope he's got legs, that should be the minimum requirement really!

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Swansea could be a surprise package this season. I hear they mean business and have the funds to back that up. Could be ones to watch.

Nope - Championship PSR rules basically make this impossible

I think there's sometimes a difference between what owners are willing to put in and the maximum losses permitted over the reporting cycle for FFP/PSR purposes.

Unless Swansea have been at the limit of permissible losses over the past few seasons then they may well have some scope for a new owner to go up to the FFP cap by investing more.

Not to mention the fact it doesn't really take anything exceptional to sneak a playoff place. Bristol City won 17 games last season which is a shade over 1/3 of matches and finished 6th. They averaged under 1.5 points per game, Coventry in 5th got exactly 1.5 ppg.

Swansea finished 11th but their form since Sheehan took over was 1.84 ppg which over a full season would've had them comfortably in 4th. They finished strong with 16 points from the final 7 games.

Its not much of a stretch to think they could push for the playoffs, especially with a few shrewd additions like Burgess.

I think they’ve already spent about £9m on two Swedish u21 internationals

Signing Hackney would be a massive move away from the type of Midfielder that KM typically likes.

Good player, but very lightweight.

As well as a Hackney type I'd like Jason Knight. We need to future proof DCM which means we need to find a successor to Morsy, better to do that whilst he's still involved than after he's gone.

Yep, hopefully don’t just go for the first cab off the rank.

Knight is one we've been keen on for a couple transfer windows now too...

I’d prefer a Knight type midfielder, we need some grit and strength in there. I’m not sure Hackney could give us any of that,he really isn’t the type we need if we want some steel in the middle of the pitch. Also we should be building with one eye on the Prem again, so do we need another lightweight who just bounces off people we have seen that doesn’t work in the Prem. We need athletic, strong, big built players to compete.

Agree for me a biggest weakness season just gone was our ability to turn the ball over. We need quick, strong, athletics midfielders who can win the ball back and feed our more technical forwards. Morsy was that man and Mass but the pace and athleticism of the premiership was too much.
