New striker on 13:33 - Jun 29 with 1456 views | Bellevue_Blue | He's not turned down staying at Everton to come to relegated Ipswich Town unfortunately. I suspect France/ Italy where he has the chance to get away from the spotlight is where he is headed.

Surely if you're a Newcastle fan that's as underwhelming as it gets isn't it?

New striker on 14:24 - Jun 29 with 1177 views | rickw | He was good a few years ago, but then non stop injuries and then last season stayed fit and managed just 3 goals, I can't see anyone else giving him £100k a week again but his demands will still surely outweigh his recent success....

New striker on 14:31 - Jun 29 with 1127 views | Nthsuffolkblue | I was thinking similar. Probably out of our reach but if Everton weren't interested in offering him something to stay perhaps no Premier Clubs would be. That said, is his injury record too much of a concern. If he can stay fit, he will be a very good signing for the lower end of the Premier League.

I do get that injuries are a concern. However, he played 2/3 of Everton's matches last season and only missed 6 the season before. You can balance the 2 previous seasons where he played just fewer than half their matches with 2020/21 where he scored 16 goals in 33 matches as he converted to being a striker. His goal return was poor last season. What lies behind that? One commentator suggested he is poor on one-on-one situations. Is that something that can be improved? My thoughts are that he is a proven Premier League player and the only reason to say no would be his injury record but the last 2 seasons were not that bad in terms of matches played.

Who is going to pay him £60K/week? Did Everton offer him a contract at all? If they did, surely it would have been much lower than that.

On B and C you can’t seriously be suggesting he would be a bad signing even if it was remotely realistic? (which it obviously isn’t) He was an absolute cut above when Everton were here last year, thought he was one of the best strikers we faced in fact I would have thought by now the difference in levels to establish PL players like DCL would be apparent. Reminiscent of January when some were questioning why we would want Marcus Rashford (another obviously unrealistic link), before he signed for CL chasing Villa and kept Ollie Watkins out of the team [Post edited 29 Jun 16:43]

I think the most likely thing is that he remains without a club until after the transfer window closes and then gets a decent offer from a club that is desperate to improve their options with a very limited choice. It is possible a club will offer him something that he accepts before that, though, as he is a very decent Premier League player as you state.
