largely agree, but so does farrage and it works for him!
i wish corbyn had come across as more genuinely anti-brexit in 2016, we could have saved ourselves years of stagnation...

The Labour stance on Brexit was an absolute shambles under Corbyn. A better strategy for the country would have been for them to accept the result and formulate in opposition a clear plan to leave in a manner that would have been as painless and seamless as possible (though it would not have been easy). Instead we had the patronising "people's vote" campaign, led largely by Labour MPs who didn't even want to win an election with Corbyn as leader, giving Boris Johnson the easy tag line "get Brexit done". Which was completely devoid of substance but played well with a public who were sick of the entire fiasco. Fighting a battle you've already lost is never a good idea.

But when Corbyn was the leader of the Labour Party he got more votes in '19 than Starmer did in '24
There are too many super rich tax avoiders that don't want him anywhere near government. The billionaire owned media will ensure he's unpopular amongst the easily led masses.

difficult landscape though, that was the brexit election, anyone interested in stopping brexit voted labour, now we have a resurgent greens and the lib dems.
he piled up the votes in the wrong places to get anywhere near power under fptp. until we get pr, the left need someone with far more leadership skills

Hope not Hate didn’t want him near power either - are they controlled by the billionaire media?
Besides he never even proposed any specific wealth taxes, just the usual marginal increase on PAYE which is p1ssing in the wind and wouldn’t effect millionaires/billionaires anyway.

which is why the left would need someone with far less baggage and considerably more leadership skills to cut through in any meaningful way.
if they're serious about changing things, they should join and bolster an existing party who already have a base, mps and some meaningful power to change things at the local level, the greens

The 'super rich' don't care, they will be fine. It's the middle class property owners, those with a reasonable PAYE income but "just about managing" that decide elections, and they know Corbyn would come for them as easy pickings.
Oh and the obsession with certain global issues over anything else.

"Middle class just about managing" How did that happen then?

that smacks of galloway though, that kind of effect doesn't last long.
the vast majority of people really dislike farrage, but the tiny minority who do, really love him, not sure jezza has that kind of cut-through
Jeremy Corbyn isn't George Galloway.
Corbyn is a conviction politician who's big blind spot was failing to understand that being really popular at Glastonbury is, electorally under FPTP, no better than being slightly popular at Glastonbury, and worth diddly squat if the things that make you really popular at Glastonbury make you hugely unpopular in the Northern former heartlands of your Party.
But as a leader of a spoiler party, he is an absolute nightmare for Labour. If they were able to field candidates in every seat Labour hold they could make hundreds of current MPs very twitchy indeed.
In contrast, George Galloway has, shall we say, something of the Farage about his understanding of public service versus building the personal brand.

Anyone who doesn't agree with me is too thick to see the truth!

For all his faults, George Galloway is a tremendous orator, as shown by his evidence before the US Senate back in 2005. One observer of Capitol Hill politics declared the result: "Galloway by a knockout - before round five."

I think it will just spread the vote a little bit more. Perhaps it is a good thing that we are not just a 2 party system with the LDs as a weak third. Maybe having 5 parties will make it much more interesting and diverse?

so basically, it'll be good for farrage and terrible for the country
