Because we’re not allowed to worry… 11:36 - Jul 7 with 9228 views | SitfcB | …when should we start worrying about no new signings? Off to Austria next week, surely we should have one or two in by then at least. Season starts in 32 days and we’re now 7 days into the ‘new financial year’ which some were using as an excuse.

Because we’re not allowed to worry… on 16:04 - Jul 7 with 1084 views | RegencyBlue | Given the Clubs stated aim of signing higher calibre players with one eye on the PL, my guess is that those deals are just proving harder to do. Having said that we don’t want to end up in the position of scrabbling around at the end of the window because we pursued deals that didn’t come off for too long. It’s a tricky balancing act and too early to judge whether we’ve got it right or not yet!

Because we’re not allowed to worry… on 13:53 - Jul 7 by positivity | for comparison, this is how they line up against our squad this time in 2023 (> is better, < is worse (imho of course!):- Palmer>hayes Walton= Muric>hladky Johnson>donacien(sorry janoi) Clarke= O'Shea>edmondson Woolfenden= Greaves>burgess Baggott= Davis> Townsend>leigh Morsy= Taylor= Humphreys> Burns= Ogbene>jackson Hutchinson>edwards Chaplin> Szmodics>harness Clarke>aluko Broadhead= Philogene>camara Hirst> Al-Hamadi=ladapo i make that 15 improved on 2023, none worse. anyone else? we finished 2nd that year, so it's not impossible that we have decent season again? EDIT: completely missed luongo, which is unforgiveable, so maybe that's 14-1 instead!! [Post edited 7 Jul 14:04]

That is a measured assessment. I was all in for panic mode. There is a weird imbalance between CM to AM to strikers. ie: poor / excellent / poor

Because we’re not allowed to worry… on 15:49 - Jul 7 by positivity | that makes 29 in a 25 man squad unless they're all under-21s? |
I’m essentially saying we’d be +3 from current state Don’t register Button Ali sold/loan Omari is sold Slicker loan Seems about right without looking in absolute detail.

we've got 26 including benjamin button, so even if we don't register him we'l need to offload 5 to bring in 5. i don't think aah will go until we bring in 2 better strikers or we'll be no further forward in terms of cover, i guess the most likely others to go are baggott, muric and broadhead [Post edited 7 Jul 16:23]

Because we’re not allowed to worry… on 16:03 - Jul 7 by StNeotsBlue | Of last years 25 Delap, Tuanzebe, Luongo and Burgess have already left. |
You need to look at the current seniors listed with the club - it's 25, 26 if button is named in the squad (he won't be so I'm not counting him)
Because we’re not allowed to worry… on 16:30 - Jul 7 with 915 views | Metal_Hacker | Can’t say I’m worrying as yet but I am slightly surprised we haven’t been seriously linked with anyone yet I’ll start and get a little more twitchy once they’re in Austria as I think that’d be the ideal time to get an “A Class” starting midfielder in to learn patterns etc and to have a good pre-season As for the striker , I’m not so nervous as I think whoever we bring in ( of a required calibre of course ) should we keep the same froward players and creators , the new striker will have a field day albeit our “No 9” plays a slightly different role that others for the most CM and GK are my concerns …if it were only one CM we needed I wouldn’t be bothered as much but for me we definitely need TWO starters , one to push Morsy as a starter and one a regular starter alongside Morsy Believe in the process I guess

why gk though? palmer and muric are excellent championship goalkeepers and walton isn't bad at all

Because we’re not allowed to worry… on 16:34 - Jul 7 with 884 views | tiptreeblue | To be fair, Liverpool last season made very few signings, if any, and their fans were worried, look what happened there, I would love to see a couple of cracking signings, but it will be what will be

The whole offload thing isn’t necessarily true. It’s completely flexible up to the end of the transfer window, so you don’t have to be one in one out. We will bring players in before the outgoings are sold, it’s not reliant on that. If someone is still hanging round at the end of the window they will be de-registered and unavailable for selection.

Because we’re not allowed to worry… on 16:38 - Jul 7 with 859 views | tetchris | MA has stated the club is looking for a different type of player. Maybe that type of player isn’t as readily available, too expensive etc. there is the possibility that KM wants to sign PL players who aren’t going to make their clubs PL squads. Until those squads are released we don’t know who is is available for loan or permanent signing?

i'm aware it's not as strict as that, we could have 45 in august! just pointing out those players will need to be moved on if we bring players in, i think they'll move heaven and earth to avoid deregistering anyone

Because we’re not allowed to worry… on 16:49 - Jul 7 with 751 views | itfcsuth | We need to be more active - both in and out. The squad is unbalanced, we need real strength in a couple of key areas, and a couple will still depart. Probably still need 5/6.

Because we’re not allowed to worry… on 16:47 - Jul 7 by positivity | any 2 of those 3 would be the best 2 keepers in any squad, i reckon. poor hladky, not sure his move was very wise, now a distant 3rd choice at burnley, wonder what his next move will be... |
Yeah I guess they would be BUT considering how KMcK wants to play out from the back as per season before last with Hladky I do wonder but hey , we might be proven wrong hopefully !!!

remember that the original plan was to play walton though, and it was only his late injury that opened the door to hladky. reckon we might evolve the tactics a bit with one eye on the prem

yeah I’d forgotten about that , Walts getting injured and Hladky taking the opportunity with both hands and feet hey Like I said , I’m not worrying (yet) but I’d like a CM in for the Austria trip to be honest but I’m guessing we’ll have to wait

Yes and no. Technically you are correct, but we also have to balance the books - so in practice we have to find a home for every player not destined to be in the 25, come Sept 1st, or we end up burdened with extra costs in the form of contracts we have to pay for, for players that aren't allowed to play.
Because we’re not allowed to worry… on 17:38 - Jul 7 with 565 views | Churchman | A good friend of mine is in hospital and I heard today that they’ve found a couple of tumours, I’m a little more worried for him than I am whether or not Ipswich sign a player or two. People who used new financial year as ‘an excuse’ have no more idea than you, me or any of the scribblers in the media making stuff up. If I was to say there will be no signings because the owners no longer have the money and are trying to recoup losses from the past three years, it’d be just as baseless as the stuff I’m seeing on here from Ashton has too many jobs to the recruitment people are cr@p to the moon is made of cheese (not Wensleydale). No point in worrying, but if you wish to, absolutely fine. Enjoy. Up to the individual. We will see where we are when the transfer window ends. As long as we can bring in a midfielder or two and some back up for Hirst, we are pretty well covered, even if one or two more players leave.
