‘Derby keen on Morsy but not alone’

Really can’t see that one happening, hands off Derby.

It’d be a bitter pill to swallow but I’d accept it if we’re getting a decent CM upgrade in return. Can’t see Morsy wanting to be benched if we do upgrade. But I think he has another season in him personally.

Isn't he in the last year of his contract?

Entirely possible we will look for a small fee and Morsy gets the opportunity for one last 3 year deal.

Surely you can only be optimistic of getting Morsy if -

1) he’s looking to move
2) the club have told j they’re moving him on
3) Nixon is talking bòllòcks

I can see him going if someone is willing to offer him a 3 year contract.

ITFC player that has had the most impact on the club for such a long time. Would be gutted to see him leave.

Would be absolutely gutting in many ways, and it's likely made up, but the club aren't just going to let him toddle off without replacements lined up and ready. So I don't fear him leaving us short, barring a complete screw up.

Really can't see it. Way too important.

Even if they offered a three year deal we could add incentives.

In some ways letting him go would be an incredible statement of intent from us in regards to upgrades.

Truly impaired.

Exactly my thoughts. Gutting, but what if we are letting him look at options because we're signing Ruiz, Matusiwa and Iroegbunam, for example.
That would be ridiculous, but you never know!

Ive said it before and I'll say it again... Morsy will start the season here but I'll be surprised if he finishes it here.
We'll be heading towards the PL as the season progresses and Morsy isn't going to be good enough for the PL. The new CMs will become the starting CMs with Morsy on the bench. Given his age he will want to be starting games, a move abroad will happen in the Jan window

I kind of feel the same. But I do feel as though Morsy might become a player coach with us rather than moving away.

Wouldn't be keen on Morsy going to a direct rival. Plus we'd really want to see a replacement actually in the door before letting him leave.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Exactly. Our need for players in the engine room is dire enough allowing for Morsy being here already.

To be fair, I don't think anyone is suggesting that a player who will be 35 *when* we get back to the prem, will be leading our midfield. And as such it's not a leap to suggest we'll phase him out either now or during the next season.

Can't let him go to another championship team!

The Saudi league would be far better for him, he'd absolutely run a midfield over there...

How about we sign these players FIRST and then assess if we can let Morsy leave.
It's OK having intent and ambitions... but we have to get these signings over the line. And then they may not work out.
I'd prefer if we kept Morsy for a final year. Too much talk of having players ready for PL when we need players to get us out of this division.

Yes - will a feel a bit more relaxed about things once we get the signings done. Hopefully a big week coming up,

Oh, absolutely. But I assume the owners/ management aren't stupid enough to sell players without being completely sure of replacements first.

Agree, Big Sam offers so much off the pitch as well as on it. I can see him being part of the coaching set up should he fancy it with us. Young family too which may come into his considerations as to where and if he moves.

Only rumours, so we’ll have to wait and see. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he does move on this window though. He’s not getting any younger get and the club will need to make a call at some point. Yes, he’s been instrumental on and off the pitch. The linked CMs are upgrades though and Dara is the future leader. There’s a reason tying Dara down to a longer contract was one of the first bits of business we did this summer.
