Genuine thoughts on Hackney & the price 16:00 - Jul 29 with 1705 viewsBlooos

Us possibly spending £20m on a player whilst in the Championship boggles my mind (in a good way). Whats the thought though? Obviously talented lad but very similar type of profile to the signings we've made in the past 12 months, young and English which comes at a premium. Still havent really got any of the bruisers / physical monsters I thought we (and ashton essentially said) we'd be after yet and probably need in the middle of the pitch.

For clarity would have Hackney here in a heartbeat.

'Still havent really got any of the bruisers / physical monsters'

Apart from the French and Dutch lads that have come in.....

Well the 'french' who's from Ivory Coast is a 2nd choice CB and Azor is 5ft8.. He's obviously a physical player but not height imposing.

Height doesn't dictate physicality.

I actually have reservations over a fee of £20m whilst in the Championship but it’s not my money and that’s the job of MA and KMck to decide!! if he can continue his upward development and help deliver us PL football next season it probably looks like great business. If he can continue his development and we sell him for anything upwards of £15m in a season or two and we are still in the champ we’ve probably done good business today, even better if he is the real deal and helps sustain PL footy 🤷🏻‍♂️

You dont need big physical midfielders to compete in the championship

stansfield was "up to 20m" in league one last year, so that seems to be the way things are going...

crazy to me how many people are concerned with Azor's height - Morsy is smaller and don't think I ever heard any concerns!

Would have thought a decent whack of the £20m is a top up based on promotion. Hopefully we end up paying that!

I met Morsey once. Surely he’s no taller than 5’8. He was tiny

He also won almost every Arial duel he was in last season.

Was about to say, he's got an 'aerial dual win rate' of 63% which puts him in the 89th percentile of Ligue 1. His 'duels won' is also 64% which puts him in the 94th percentile.

Overall pretty physically dominating.

Physical monsters come in all forms surely? Pace and ability to cover ground, leap and hang time, strength and power.

There are plenty of tall players out there who can't jump or cover ground who I promise wouldn't help us in the PL.

£20m sounds a lot. I would have thought £15m was the going rate, as per last season.

But I would be excited if we signed him, if the hype is founded!

Also.... WE ARE NOW ONE OF THE TEAMS THAT WE HATED TWO SEASONS AGO!!
