If the deal was good and we could get him relatively cheap £3-5 mil then I would be very happy to have him onboard if Omari is off. There is a value to him knowing exactly how we operate and the role he would need to do. He was just absolutely ideal in how he plays coming on because he was a bit blood and thunder in his approach.

A bit erratic but he's a really decent technical player and he'd absolutely love coming back.

A good replacement if we Omari/Hutchinson go. An no I don't want either to go. Obviously there are some other good options as well but Sarmiento has a bit of X factor about him and street fighter spirit. Yep, but of heart in this thinking but that's ok!

But he's proven to be good enough for us. He was excellent. He didn't have to start regularly to make a big impact. In those positions you'd have to spend £20-30 mil to get players ahead of what we have.

CM is where we spend the big money. And striker arguably.

I don't think he was excellent. Positionally he was all over the place. KM didn't seem to trust him as a starter and it appears the same happened at Burnley. Just too chaotic imho.

I didnt think he was great last time, but if hes matured now and is more consistent then he would be a good backup.

Nope. Only if he can play CM, which he can’t. Another time if we didn’t ready have 2,000 proven AMs then maybe.

I'd take the 35 for hutch and spend it on dibling.

It's not Football Manager. Dibling wouldn't swap Soton for Ipswich and I doubt 35 million would convince Southampton either.

Broadhead and Omari are not CMs. We will need both.

Obv I know he wouldn't. Was in jest

But. If dibling is more than 35. Why is hutch different?

This seems way too obvious but if it’s doable it’s a simple swap for an older player on a 1 year contract for a younger player with upside potential. They are both ball carriers Magic and Broady. Magic is arguably a bit more robust in the tackle.

I'd say he's more of a Broadhead replacement because he's more of a bench player. Hes nowhere near a Omari replacement.Take out the Southampton goal.... and many would have forgotten about him. I say no...we can do better.

He was ok for us mainly because he scored some very big goals, but certainly not excellent in terms of ability.

He also likes to play off the left and we don't need to add to that side with Clarke Philogene and Broadhead.

If Sarmiento hadn't scored that goal against Southampton, nobody would be clamouring for his return.

He was often chaotic and rarely skillful.

With Broadhead likely to go and Philogene out for who knows how long again, Sarmiento would be a good option off the bench. I'd take him for the money mentioned.

I think he’s a talented player and is certainly a great character. I liked him. And I’d not be averse to him returning, but in all honesty I’m not sure where he would fit.

He'd fit exactly like he did before as a minimum.

He's 23 and he will have improved his game since we last had him and will still get better under McKenna.

Let's not forget he's a regular international and scores goals for Brighton this and last pre-season. I think the fact he lost his place in a good Burnley team has clouded judgement. If he could be a player off the bench to cause havoc like last year (such a threat and loved his energy coming on) then it's a good signing. If he kicks on and presses/gets a starting spot then even better.
