How do you know they’ve gone without a hitch? Do you follow other clubs as intently as you do Ipswich?

Have you looked at the level of most signings in the championship? Do you think any of them would have been a massive improvement for us? Maybe a couple would have been ok, but even those aren’t at a level that would create a sea change on what we’ve already got.

We did have that plan, worked well for defence and attacking mids, however loans in CM and we should have picked up a top level champ striker. It worked with Clarke, Philogene, Szmodics, Greaves we could I’m sure have added to that. | |

That’s obviously not the case. Even if you don’t have half an eye on other clubs, the fact that we’re linked with players several other clubs are means that only 1 will get what they want and the rest will suffer a “hitch”.
We could go back to the heady days of 2018, when on this day we signed Jon Nolan beating out fierce competition from (checks notes) absolutely nobody. |  |

Football League clubs have long been at the bottom of the food chain. Nothing happens until the bog boys make their decisions & then the players they don't want or need suddenly become available in the last week of August. I'm sure we'll get in a couple of PL players on loan, but not until then. |  |

Do you honestly believe that? Like honestly? It's got to just be the frustration talking!!
Go and speak to a Boro fan, a Coventry fan, a Leicester fan, a Southampton fan and on and on. They are all super frustrated and the list goes on. Anyone with ambition to improve in this division as well will find it difficult. We want Prem capable players. Prem capable players want to play in the Prem. Prem teams also want Prem capable players. So a lot of convincing and a bit of waiting is inevitable for things to work themselves out. Otherwise we are just signing all the available players who can cut in in the champ but not improve us much or at all.
You will give Brum as the example. But they needed to essentially improve everywhere so for the most part they could move quickly to at least get there champ capability up. They basically needed all positions. Now they are at some of the key ones like CF they are now getting annoyed. There fans were annoyed at not landing Poku as well. | |

Think there's something in that and it's in part the level we've hit. I also think that's made it complicated from another angle, that the players we're after often have Premier League ambitions, so keep us waiting or are fishing for Premier League interest. Probably doesn't help that we're still building our recruitment infrastructure. |  | | |
