Seems a bit odd that 2 players have turned us down despite having medicals 21:32 - Aug 17 with 3202 views | Vic | I always thought that if a player had a medical the deal was done, so very surprised by Hackney and the Spanish guy. Is this a new thing?

No one - but that is why they came to PR. Hackney defo didn’t failed. If the other guy failed then I reckon we’d have been told.

Players don't really 'fail' (or 'pass') medicals - they complete one and the club will look at the results and evaluate the risk of signing that player based on them. Even if they weren't confidential it wouldn't be our news to share if there was something that made us walk away from the deal.

Don't think Brentford said he failed the medical, just that they pulled out at the medical stage and the media interpreted it as such

He arrived with a hangover, I think Brentford decided that wasn't appropriate and effectively pulled out at that point.

Depends on what they pick up too o guess: Look at our approach to Cajuste. Maybe somethings can be managed, particularly if the quality of the players demands we take a closer look. Most other clubs turned Cajuste down. So lots of factors I guess in how we interpret medical, not as simple as pass and fail:
Seems a bit odd that 2 players have turned us down despite having medicals on 09:41 - Aug 18 with 734 views | Radlett_blue | A deal may have been agreed in principle by all 3 parties, but it isn't "done" until after the club have assessed the player's medical report & if it isn't 100%, they may decide that buying or loaning the player isn't an acceptable risk. This is naturally confidential as publicly stating that a player had "failed" a medical could be prejudicial to the player's future career & the club's ability to sell or loan him. The most famous case I remember was in 1971 when it was announced to all & sundry that Leeds had signed Asa Hartford for a big fee, but the deal collapsed after the medical revealed he had a "hole in the heart" condition. He was only 21 at the time, but he immediately resumed playing for WBA & played another 700 games or so.

I think the club pulled out of the Hackney deal when Cajuste became available at £1 million compared to £20 million…..that is how I saw it
