Tesco meal deal increasing to £3.85 tomorrow (with clubcard)

((£4.25 without clubcard))

Disgraceful.

The issue here is not the inflation, but

A. The fact that you have to accept being tracked by club card to get a fair price. It's not a discount....

B. It's cheaper to add unhealthy crisps to your lunch than not to...

Yes, basically punishment prices in Tesco (and Sainsbury's) now if you don't want a loyalty card. Last time I went in Sainsbury's, Colgate Total was £3.50 with Nectar or £7 without. £7 for a tube of toothpaste!

Of course the issue is the price inflation, you dont' have to get crisps as your side, fruit and othe healthy options are on offer too.

But crisps is a choice, if you want a healthy option you can get fruit, or one of those snack bar things. Or a Magnum

Alternatively, the issue is Tesco knowing they can fleece those who can’t be arsed or aren’t organised enough, to make their own lunch.

Eat their crap sandwiches, crisps and fizz every working day and wonder why that flab just won’t shift …

I kind of agree with your point but the broader issue is big companies simply taking the mick. Be it producers reducing the size of the product by 20% and charging the same price or supermarkets wacking up prices whilst posting massive profits. It's an unsustainable model where no one ultimately benefits.

I think we should blame Rachael Reeves for this.

It only seems like yesterday I could get a Big Mac Meal for £2.88.

Make your own lunch. Save a couple of quid a day. Over the year you would have a chunk towards your ST.

Careful, there are shades of "hey young people, stop buying avocados and cappuccinos if you want to afford your own house" about this!

Not really because I couldn't care less if people buy their lunch and for some it might be an hour of enjoyment in an overall bleak day.

I probably spend £20 a week on takeaway coffee but I wouldn't take my own advice and take my own as it's a moment of pleasure.
