Seen a screenshot from X that a poster on here suggests we are down the road on discussions with Cook. I can't find the thread that was mentioned in does anyone know which one, I wanted to have a read. Has Phil quashed that yet?

Agree, we have had a tough start with two difficult teams. Yes, some teams will have had it easier.

State the obvious, but we need a win!

From what I was told at the Training Ground, we are pretty far down the line with signing Lewis Cook permanently from Bournemouth.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola expects midfielder Lewis Cook to be out of action until after the September international break.

Cook suffered a knee injury in last weekend's pre-season friendly with Bristol City.

The full extent of the problem was diagnosed following Bournemouth's flight to the United States to take part in the four-team Premier League Summer Series.

Thankfully for Cook, it is the less serious medial ligament injury.

The 28-year-old has already recovered from two lots of cruciate ligament surgery that led to extended periods on the sidelines.

Don't know if there is any truth in it, but if fit, he would be an excellent addition for us. It would be a surprise that he would drop down from the PL at his age though, especially when we have already signed a player who is intended to be our starter in his position.

I'm that case, no. We need players who can contribute now. McKenna will never bring him back straight away so it would probably be November before he starts a game.

I just can't see that we have a hope in hell of signing Cook. Been an ever present over the last couple of seasons in a successful Bournemouth team and still has three years left on what I assume is a decent PL contract.

He is with CAA Stellar though so I suppose anything is possible!

Thank you. It was late and I thought of that after I posted so I searched and didn't pick up that thread even though it came up in search and I looked at it. Very poor night for me. School report says I must try harder.

I think you are right, and then Phil has quashed Billing too yet I am sure I have seen reputable journos (Darren Witcoop?) say we've had a second bid that was rejected.

Would really like Billing, big and physical could do a great job and would mean we're probably just about OK in that area so really really really need to sort the striker shortage.

Billing would be an absolute beast in the Championship. Wouldn't say no to him at all.
