We will win well this weekend.... 22:24 - Aug 21 with 1435 viewsPippin1970

One of those games we turn over the opposition.

Yup, I guess a win does constitute an occasion whereupon we ‘turn over the opposition’

However, I’m less confident so I’ll go for another draw, which would still represent an excellent return against a seasoned Championship team who always start well before eventually fading alarmingly.

They drew at home with all 3 of Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland last season, shame we haven’t won yet because this is definitely quite a tough one!

I can’t remember what the result was when we played them preseason recently?

TBF They drew more than every other team in the top 4 divisions, so not that surprising to hear.

For a team that many fancied for relegation they’re very hard to beat there. Really need the win though.

Don’t be disappointed if we only get a draw, that would still be a ok result at the moment.

For the third time this season there are a few more positive signs to build upon. Birmingham coming from a goal down in a fisty cuffs match and finishing the stronger. Soton scoring, conceding, playing better football than before, more players playing well ant the same time, and finishing the stronger team. This week we’ve had a near full training week plus news the Sammy isn’t out and Cajuste and Akpom are with the squad.

Set up for us to take the next step and take more chances to win the game 0:2 or 1:2.

A third 1-1 game for me. 1-0 down with Hirst getting the equaliser.

See nothing more than us bullied in the boxes and beaten by a set piece goal or two.
The thought of watching Jack Clarke get pushed around for 75/80mins is painful.

I wonder if he’ll start? I can see Ogbene-Chaplin-Philogene behind Hirst.

If we had more options on the right then Clarke would come in the left for the final 15 minutes when Philogene starts to tire.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

Our record at Deepdale is pretty rubbish and a draw wouldn't be the worst thing.

If Oggers is fit I’d like to see him on the right, Billy Jean on the left with JC coming on as a finisher. I worry that the longer we let him struggle as a starter the worse it will get for him.

My fear is that he will not turn things round and will prove the be the first big flop of the Gamechanger era. I don’t mean that as a stick to beat them with, because no one gets every signing right. Crumbs, look at some to Sir Alex’s signings at United - and he is the undisputed greatest British manager of all time.

A sensible view. Three games in and no wins but I agree, a point here would be okay.
Three games, remain unbeaten and having played Saints and a toughie at St Andrew’s or whatever they call it now.
For what it’s worth, I actually think we’ll grind out a hard fought 1-0 win tomorrow.
Have a good weekend Benters.
