Craft beer has disappeared up its own generic arse 19:20 - Aug 22 with 1796 views | redrickstuhaart | Fight me on this.... Currently sampling a series of craft beer joints in Harrogate prior to trundling over to Preston in the morning. Bar 1. Nice place. Friendly, relaxed, keen to offer samples of everything. 14 items on the draft list 2 of which are cask ales. Of the first 12 9 are ipa pale ale of some description. NINE! Then there's a radler and 2 pils lagers. The cask stuff? A session ipa and a pale ale... Not a proper ale or anything other than ipa to be had, basically. Bar 2. Lots of ipa.... Also some wheat beer. Hooray! However, each of the 4 wheat beers has fecking fruit in it. Why? No ale. Nothing Belgian or proper weissebeer styles. Just ipas.... The same endless slop that comes in overly colourful cartoony cans in the supermarket. So it's lager again. [Post edited 22 Aug 19:21]

Craft beer has disappeared up its own generic arse on 08:49 - Aug 23 by BondiBlue | I was into it for a bit but nothing in the last 25 years has tasted as good as adnams broadside on tap when i was 16 in woodbridge. I'm on p1ss weak australian lager now and loving it. |
You can’t beat Adnams all that beardy hipster craft beer is nonsense.

A huge range of obscenely overpriced and faintly unpleasant beer with stupid names, all of which tasted like grandad's home brew kit c. 1976, and served by irritating hipsters with all the customer service skills of Basil Fawlty. Gimme a Hobgoblin or Spitfire any day.

A lot to be said for a good, cold, crisp lager.

Craft beer has disappeared up its own generic arse on 21:26 - Aug 22 by redrickstuhaart | Go to Prague. Have a properly fresh well poured Urquell and come back to me... |
Or save a couple of days and a few quid, and try this unexpected source of Pilsner Urquell, served from the tank: https://theduckandrice.com/menus/ It's in London's Soho, a few mins fm Piccadilly Circus.

Even Adnams have stopped doing their bitter in mini-kegs. I know why because it has a very short shelf life and it needs leaving to settle before using but it is a very different experience from modern beers. On the subject of dark beers does any brewer make Tolly’s Cobnut brown ale?
