Chatting to a Forest fan about Omari and what he’s walking into 10:18 - Aug 23 with 2025 viewsunstableblue

Had a good conversation with a rabid Forest fan - essentially Omari has walked into a spat between Nuno and Edu the groups footballing director (multiple clubs) with the Greek Chairman not easing the situation.

Essentially they want Nuno to be a coach, and Nuno has not been fully consulted on some players who’ve been brought in… 8 players now at large outlay.

It may pass, but it’s an issue and Nuno still calling for his targets. Forest fans feel Nuno won’t actually stay that long anyway, so Omari will have a new manager maybe as early as the summer (or even before that if some communication lines aren’t healed).

Again I want Omari to do well and he leaves Town having added value and given us great memories.

There is another challenge for Omari in carving out a starting place.

Forest fans and I believe the club see Ndoye as the starting right winger, brought in for a similar fee at Omari. And Gibbs-White is the 10, not competing with McAtee… who I think is an excellent player, despite a surprisingly lower fee to Hutchinson.

One thought was that Omari could challenge on the left, as Hudson Odoi is a little out of form. But never thought he was good over there.

I do think our former star is going to have walked into a bit of a different culture, set-up than well structured Town.

For his career a Brentford or an Everton where he was the main man/starter may have suited his progression?!

It's widely expected Postecoglou will soon take over, I think. I guess both manager and chairman are carefully playing a game though, in order to not lose/pay compensation.

It really is a shame that he couldn’t be persuaded to stay another year.

While obviously he would want a settled situation and unexpected manager changes aren't ideal, I think players probably 'get it' with modern football and how things change. I doubt he went there because he was desperate to play under Nuno.

Even if minutes are limited he's going to play PL football, probably Europa League too, and will earn silly money on a five year contract.

Think Forest fans see that as the papers making most of what is an internal spat, that may quickly end with some kiss and make up optics.

BUT, Marinakis is pretty full on, and you never know. Maybe Ange in place for Palace!!

Interestingly the good Nuno has done, and great work in the local community, Forest fans do seem to back the Greek!

Yes I forgot to mention the Forest fan stated that maybe Omari is the starter in European games.

And Forest have a lot of games this season, he’ll play.

I agree with the players understanding modern football, but Omari is young, he’s been in a very very cohesive dressing room, and his close relationship with McKenna has been huge for him and perhaps what he deems the norm. His move was probably quite agent led.

Having said all that both Nuno (and Ange!) are good people managers.

He’s certainly not getting in ahead of Gibbs-White at 10. I suspect he went in with eyes wide open. It’s not unusual for clubs to have some ‘friction’ in the background and I’m sure players know it comes with the territory. He also knows he’ll need to work a hard and prove himself. He did that here, so he won’t be worried about knuckling down.

Im on holiday at the moment and have spoken to a fair few forest fans. Whenever you mention Hutchinson its like they have barely noticed he's arrived. Our crown jewel to a place of uncertainty and non significance really hurts as someone that massively admired his talent, and felt in him leaving he was completely and utterly dictated to by an agent that saw personal gains from a client who had a good summer of tournament football and had made a move a year prior with Premier league pound signs in the eyes.

Don't get me wrong, im sure the 60k a week or whatever it is is appealing for omari, but the agent fee and signing on fee would of been massive to make sure it landed at forest.

Yeah, he’s a small fish in a big pond now. He was worth (and appreciated) so much more to us than Forest, but what can you do? We’ll see a lot of this if all goes to plan. One or two decent sales a year will allow us to keep building and reinvesting. Shame though- it would have been fun watching him tear the league apart.

Gibbs-White is their main player, first on team sheet.

McAtee is also suited, and played there for Man City, as a right sided attacking mid in a 3.

Against their transfer business may be a mix of Nuno and Edu signings so may be a bit confused.

Having said all that I agree Omari is a good player, he’ll knuckle down and carve a place. Be interesting if he starts Sunday, but will probably be Ndoye who’s already got a Prem goal and was a start at Bologna.

Just think he needed to be a starting player to get the progress in his career he was seeking, week in week out.

'Small fish in a big pond' - my, howcquickly things change! A handful of seasons ago Forest were a middling Championship club - now they are able to blow us out of the water, even though we ourselves have seem an unbelievable renaissance. Just goes to show - hopefully we can be them in 2 or 3 seasons. Keep up the refent raye of progress and i think we will be.

I was friends with an Ipswich player years ago (probably shouldn't say who as it's not fair on him), but I remember asking him if there were any players he absolutely hated.

"Yeah, only one. [xxx] was a prick and I nearly had a fight with him on the pitch."

Not much longer after that, we sold him for a decent amount of money to another pretty big club and within months of him arriving, that player became their manager.

He never really got much of a look in there and end up being farmed out on loan before leaving and ended up going down the leagues for a bit.

I think we always forget how that kind of politics can really damage - if not completely ruin - a career.
