I was more frustrated at what I knew the reaction elsewhere will be and having to deal with it when I speak to people.....!
We are heading in right direction, think a few areas of team look good but the front 5 [Davis, Philogene, Hirst, Szmodics, Clarke] on Saturday were just disjointed and misfiring .
To be nerdy about it, our numbers are pretty good in the main - and we've had a tough start - we should only improve from here and look more fluid so results will follow.
But the transfer window been a bit of an abomination, but when you look at parachute clubs it's just the nature of the beast now...we aren't doing anything worse than our peers but deals just push right through to end of window now so we need to be patient.
2 points from 3 helps nothing, and we need to find a way to convert performances when we edge games into results | |

I've just posted my suggested team for Saturday on the 'Derby' thread and realised that I couldn't find (OK, forgot about) places for Ogbene and Woolfenden even amongst the subs. We are fine for numbers and talent as we are, no need for panic buys Mr Mainwairing. But if the right player is available we can make a move but don't need to overspend. Of course that may cause problems about who to send out on loan or sell (and I would prefer it if we could find a way to keep Woolfenden happy) but that is what Ashton gets paid for. |  |

But we blazed high and wide (apart from Taylor's added time shot which looked easy for the keeper) because teams like Preston do not give you time to settle on the ball. We are going to meet quite of few of them as the season progresses and our forwards need to be sharper. Such a waste of the two excellent crosses that Jack Clarke put in. | |

I'm just not sure that Szmodics can play in that role and link paly effectively. Impressive work rate, and he'll be a goal threat in more games than not but the awareness and link up play are less so. |  |
