Women can be bigoted too

Oh the irony Wes! on 15:36 - Sep 4 by Swansea_Blue | Yes, for all the reasons outlined in various posts since (the ruling being only applicable to the Equality Act 2010 so creates a muddled position; changing the goalposts for trans women; and not least for kicking off a wave of hatred against trans people). It would be nice if people could leave minorities alone rather than attack them for who they are. |
no one is "attacking them for who they are". people are following the law and pointing out what they aren't.

why instead of responding to counter arguments do you just denigrate the morality of people who disagree with you? everyone with different views to you is morally flawed, or bigots or transphobes etc. it's almost as if you don't have any reasoned arguments?

Bit of a strange response to be honest. I never said they couldn't be and I was just saying why they tend to be the ones to say that.

After centuries of struggle to get equal rights in our society, women now seem to be getting a lot of hatred directed towards them in this debate.

Yes, I have said for a long time that there is almost a league table of whose rights matter more and many well meaning people only seem to know how to go all in on that one group. If a group they defend for years gets into a dispute with another group higher up the table they quickly turn on them. And yes, they will reply saying this is nonsense, but i've seen it play out repeatedly for decades now.

Then again I repeat that there is no excuse for bigotry We can go around in circles if you wish, but referring to trans women as "biological males" is needlessly cruel.

it's factually correct, so why is it cruel? it's not needless - equality law takes it as a fundamental tenet. without acknowledging it we deny the established rights of biological women. or does that just not matter? are there other scientific facts that you think we should pretend don't exist?

There is no hierarchy in my view. Discrimination, hostility or hatred against any group is wrong and is something I feel passionately about. [Post edited 4 Sep 19:35]

i assume it would be 'needlessly cruel' to mention that the big one on the left - the one clutching the gold winner's trophy - is biologically male? personally i think the chin stubble is a clue. the others are only women, so it would be very bigoted not to prioritise the feelings of the one who's a foot and 30kg bigger. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/dam/swimming/2024/03/14/TELEMMGLPICT00028991

I suppose it’s tribal the same as everything else these days. I get the impression that the trans community are fairly close to the bottom of this “league table” (I’m not convinced there is a hierarchy overall). They seem to be getting hammered from all corners (MSM, Government, on social media, by celebs). They suffer the same fate as asylum seekers; if any turn out to be wrong’uns (which is inevitable of course) that’s used to attack all of them. I’m in agreement that there shouldn’t be a league table, as race to the bottom is never a good idea. In law there shouldn’t be a league table, as gender reassignment remains a protected characteristic in the Equalities Act 2010 despite the slightly surprising high court ruling. As is sex, do women and trans people should have the same rights and protections. I look at this very simplistically (like everything else lol). My overriding principle is don’t be an arse to people. Unfortunately a lot of people are being arsed (even if they’re coming from a place of genuine concerns).

You say that but their single sex spaces are being lost. They are literally using that phrase to make a point about the situation they find themselves in.

Oh the irony Wes! on 13:56 - Sep 4 by jayessess | I think the weird thing for me is that the consensus view now seems to be the paradox that (a) trans rights are so wildly unpopular that advocating for them would be political suicide but also that (b) "transphobes", people who actually hate trans people, don't exist (or if they do exist they aren't really a problem and you shouldn't call them that). There's dozens of stories of Linehan harassing and abusing people (including cis women!) in his obsession with trans people. You can see some in the replies and quotes on this post: Graham Linehan once took issue with a sketch I did and tweeted about me referring to me not by name but only as to who my boyfriend was and called me an NPC ( non player character.) It was misogynistic and his “standing up for women” schtick is baloney. — Rosie Holt (@rosieisaholt.bsky.social) 2025-09-03T22:09:13.885Z The idea he's just some innocent who's been set upon by the trans lobby and targeted by the thought police is baloney. Linehan, like The Male Writer Robert Galbraith, is basically someone who took some minor criticism of some old work of theirs that they could have basically defused with 'yeah, that's not cool nowadays, I'd probably write that differently now' and instead decided to make it their entire personality to the detriment of their reputation, future work prospects, etc, etc
