Sometimes I enjoy watching old clips from the 1980s and 1990s, and I sometimes notice away supporters celebrating in the home sections. Was this a common occurrence, and didn’t it lead to trouble? When did it stop?

As a lad in the '70's and living in Norfolk most of my mates were Budgies. I would go and stand in the Barclay with them and support the away team. No problems.
The following Saturday was spent with Twinkle at Portman Road.

Even further back in the early 70's you could queue up and go into which stand you wanted. I remember London away games at several clubs where I stood in the home end with a family who used to take me on the supporters bus. Even on the North Bank at Highbury. Perhaps we were mad or naive, but there was friendly banter and no trouble. Sounds crazy now, but true.

Interesting to note when the Arsenal player went down in the area for their penalty, he just stayed there on the ground. None of this shytehousery of clutching the head and rolling over for 2 mins. How the game has changed, and not for the better

I mean that Derby game was something else. I hope this isn't going to be the norm!

Touted as a 'new Alan Hansen' in his Everton days, he was prone to some real panicky gaffes such as the one in the Arsenal game. I think he also gifted Dalian Atkinson the equaliser in our opening game of the Premier league with a wild mis-kick.
I think he went on to play Prem football with Charlton as well if I recall

I think I've erased much of those mid90s seasons from my memory - I was a ST holder at the time
To answer your question, based on what I recall...
90s Arsenal H in FA Cup 93 there were some gooners in the corner between North (SBR) and West which kicked off afterwards. I remember this because there was a regular H & A Town fan stuck in the middle of them giving it large to the Town fans and wondered whether it was self preservation or that he was genuinely a cunit
Manchester United regularly infiltrated all areas, one game I recall they appeared to have both sides of North (what would now be 1 & 6) but don't recall it kicking off
80s Seemed to kick off every game! At least up to relegation in 86, especially in West Stand

Eddie was a weird one.

He did make the gaffe as you described, but I don't think Dalian scored against us? Why am I thinking it was Lee Chapman (don't even know if he played for Villa)? I'll let someone else look it up!
Great goal from Gavin Johnson to put us 1 up.

In early 90s I had a mate who was living near Cold Blow Lane, remember Town happen to be playing Millwall one day when I was staying so I just went along on my own, paid on the gate and stood with the home fans on the half way line! Obviously wasn’t in colours and kept my mouth shut! Main thing I remember is being shocked at the racism against Chris Kiwomya! I was mid 20s and considered myself quite Worldly wise, I stood on PR terraces as a kid in the 70s and seen it a bit before (even Town fans could dish it out a bit in those days), however I’d never heard it to that extreme!
