I couldn’t make it unfortunately…nice generalision of those that did go though..believe it or not although you and your chums and your views are the ‘spoken’ majority on here in real life your are hopelessly in the minority…

so basically everyone ..in real life I have spoken to have been positive about the events of Saturday…the rascist..naive..ignorant…b*stds…

I’m not saying that there weren’t far right extremists at the rally and I abhor them as much as you..all I’m saying is that they were vastly outnumbered by normal folk and for you and your like to tar them with the same brush just shows your ignorance…

To answer your question..I reckon people feel frustration that it seems that loads of of dosh seems to be available for illegal migrants when things like home grown homelessness is prevalent..pensioners …who have paid into the system for years have to go cold in the winter..
Is that fair?

anyhoo…that’s my position and I’m sure that ..as far as this forum goes anyway…it’ll bite me on the arse and I’ll be down arrowed to fk…

but I don’t care…you’ve got your opinion and I’ve got mine…so as far as this convo goes…….thats me….over and out…

You've fallen for their rhetoric. They want you to believe immigrants are the problem to deflect from the real issues.
Immigration is probably the single thing that has more coverage relative the actual issue than anything else.
I'd ask you to look deeper than Dail Mail headlines but I know you won't.
And the people on that march have fallen for the same.
I wonder how many of that 100,000 have actually had problems with immigrants, as opposed to the perception. Very few I'd suggest.

Really? Where's the evidence for this? And why would the police (who aren't taking sides and are just doing their job) make this stuff up?

Several police were hospitalised. Do you this was made up? Or do you think it should be swept under the carpet and not reported?

why go to a march run by well-known far-right racists, organise your own instead. as for the majority, polls show more people voting for labour/lib-dem or parties to the left of them with less interest in these culture war nonsense

what's changed since last year when the tories were in charge? why march now? why are the right-wing media massively hyping this now, when there is little material change in immigration numbers?

why weren't there marches last year when huge amounts of money were put into he rwanda scheme to deport 2 (two) people? home grown homelessness and poor pensioners were there then too? what's caused you to be radicalised now and not last year?

*edit as you acknowledged that the 2020 footage was a hoax*

But in general, keep apologising for the racists all you want. It was a march organised by right-wing extremists with several of them speaking at it. That is without doubt, that is fact.

If you want to justify people attending whilst knowing that, that’s on you. And them. Draw your own conclusions.

Let’s say they do smash the gangs (how has that gone with the war on drugs?) Then what? People are on the move, whether you like it or not and that is impossible to stop, unless the reasons they’re moving are addressed.

The problem with drugs was not addressing it early enough, plus its easier to smuggle drugs than it is outboard engines & life jackets

Yep, and fair play for that - but how many people have seen these lies spread by Elon Musk and X and won't realise that, or won't hold their hands up.

It's a good example of the poison being fed by these which is infecting too many people, weakening trust in authorities etc.

Where have you got 50,000 from? From what I recall, peaked at around 45,000 in 2022 and no other year has come close to that (although we're at around 30,000 so far this year, as the smugglers have had weather on their side)

Doesn't help the argument of people pushing for the stop of small boat crossings if you're just going to pull a random number out of your arse.

Every person in this country in related to an immigrant wether that is in the distant past or they came here yesterday.

it has been proven time and time again that immigrants are net contributors to society once in work and the majority of those on boats are fleeing totally abhorrent regimes and wars, and in the future they will become legal migrants and net contributors.

The fact is many natives are very happy to claim benefits of some sort including many of them at this March I would wager, give me a hard working immigrant making contributions to society any day of the week.

Unfortunately you have been played like a sucker, you think Katie, Nigel, and Laurence are even slightly concerned with immigration and the state of Britain ?

If you'd been keeping up, you would have seen I posted this on another thread yesterday.

On misinformation, the Guardian is reporting this.

"The Metropolitan police has had to counter false suggestions by the artificial intelligence on Elon Musk’s X platform that the force passed off footage from 2020 as being from Saturday’s far-right rally in the city.

The claim by the chatbot Grok was in answer to an X user’s query about where and when footage of police clashing with crowds was filmed.

Grok, which has had a track record of giving false and misleading answers, replied: “This footage appears to be from an anti-lockdown protest in London’s Trafalgar Square on 26 September 2020, during clashes between demonstrators and police over Covid restrictions.”

The answer was quickly picked up and amplified by X users, including the Daily Telegraph columnist Allison Pearson, who tweeted: “This was my suspicion,” before asking: “Did the Met claim footage of clashes in summer 2020 took place yesterday?”

The Met responded to her by saying that the footage was filmed on Saturday shortly before 3pm at the junction of Whitehall and Horse Guards Avenue.

“It is quite obviously not Trafalgar Square as is suggested in the AI response you have referenced, but for the avoidance of further doubt we have provided a labelled comparison to confirm the location,” the force added.

As I said on that post, what a sick world we live in. And here's further evidence of misinformation circulating about.

Fascinating thread this, genuinely.

Lets say plenty of people who went on this march were just ordinary normal blokes, concerned citizens who want a serious solution to immigration in this country. Not got a far right or racist bone in their body. I will even add in that were completely unaware that Stephen Yaxley Lennon was anything to do with this. Surely the moment they learnt that SYL was the poster boy for this event that should have been their sign to leave, fast. He is a racist, there is no debate to be had about that.

The issue with the above is that it takes a lot of mental gymnastics to get there. This is why those on here who are pointing out that these are just normal blokes, who are a good laugh and aren't racists aren't making sense. Why would these people be happy to associate with the former face of the EDL and a career criminal? It is fantasy stuff.

I think yer right about large swathes of the country not feeling the benefits of change and an improving society. Though I think it probably goes back way beyond 2009 unfortunately.

Large predominantly working class areas of the country have been completely neglected for decades by government after government. This of course leaves them open to the suggestions of Farage and more worryingly Tommy Robinson.

Labour and the Tories have both completely failed these communities. I would suggest they have had very little intention of attempting to prove the lifestyles etc of people in these areas. Unfortunately it's probably to late now to turn the tide now as there both just not trusted.

i don't accept that labour pre-2010 failed them. yes it was hugely globalist and started many of the changes we have seen since. it saw the first big shift in immigration - though at a very modest level compared to the last few years. but it hugely improved public services and over saw a functioning state that greatly helped those communities. good schools, good hospitals, sure start, the minimum wage etc all benefited those communities. of course it was a model based entirely on sustained growth - which that government provided up to 2008. without growth the whole edifice collapsed - the government finances no longer added up and the level of state provision which supported those communities was unsustainable.

I don't know about anyone else but, with recent developments and with 45% of people in a YouGov survey saying they would support requiring large numbers of migrants who came to the UK in recent years to leave, I have been going out of my way in my dealings with black, brown or eastern European people to be as polite, smiley and friendly as possible.

I'm like that anyway in my dealings with people anyway but I have lifted it up a notch in recent months because I want to make them think I am not one of the 45%.

It is all rather sad that it's come to this.

You'd probably need to ask the people living in these places. But I would suggest that though statistically things may have improved it probably doesn't/didn't feel that way.

I doubt people in these areas feel they are any closer to achieving equality of wealth with those they see on tv or around them. I doubt they feel its any easier for their children to attend university or to buy a house for example.

Actually, though I'm no fan of Labour I would probably agree that at least until quite recently Labour may have had good intentions about improving the lot of working class families.

The last 2 governments clearly have no clue of what that would even involve
