Am I right in thinking he could potentially be on a double wage if his previous contract was paid out? Or do some sackings not cost money?

Apparently they are just.... on 19:58 - Sep 14 with 3504 viewsBloots

....reinstating him back on his previous contract.

My guess would be that he wasn't paid all at once and they are still paying him (as we were woth Lambert). I assume that there will be a clause in the contract that means if he takes another role Sheff U no longer have to pay him or pay a reduced amount and i would imagine that will then get wrapped into his new contract or, clause depending him returning is seen as a new managerial role and they will just negotiate a new contract but if I was Wilder id be playing hardball

I would guess they hadn't had time to agree a settlement of his contract or he wasn't interested in doing so as he assumed he'd get another job soon enough, at which point they'd stop paying him.

I very much doubt Lambert continued to be paid for too long after he left, these deals usually have cut-off clauses after sackings.

You mean you don’t think we’re we’re paying him until a few months ago? You’ve just spoilt a lovely urban myth.

Of course, I don't think I've ever heard anyone seriously suggest that was the case.

Always remember the fuss when Magilton went to QPR, seemingly people at ITFC were delighted as it meant we stopped paying him.
If its dependent on not getting any other form of employment, I imagine a settlement is pretty much a given quite early on.

Often that's the case. Or there are break clauses at various stages.

Don't get this.

Right from the get go, there'd be tension and friction ... and very recent history .. between the owners and Wilder.

So he's crap a few months ago.... and yet now he's the only man in the profession who can do this job now.

Is it a case of they need a manager to keep them from being relegated to league 1? If so Wilder makes sense, especially if Selles has lost the dressing room.

Seems like they need Wilder more than he needs them atm

Indeed, some managers have almost made a career out of their reputation for saving teams from relegation.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Probably not as pertaining to an individual's contract? Confidentiality and all that.

And the most predictable news scoop of the year award goes to:

'Chris Wilder returns with proven leadership and an unparalleled understanding of Sheffield United," a statement read on the club's website.

"We are confident he is the right person to restore momentum, unite the squad and supporters, and deliver the results necessary to achieve our objectives this season'

And also, no one else is prepared to take the job on...

Wilder will be in the more powerful position though I would guess. The owners’ credibility has taken a serious knock.
