I'll never grow up, will I? 16:02 - Sep 15 with 1671 views | NthQldITFC | I've just spent a glorious quarter of an hour bunging - well spinning like a well-thrown rugby ball - acorns up into the howling wind over the river and marvelling at how they retain their upright spinning form as they get buffeted around in all directions. This sort of thing makes me happy. What sort of things like this make you happy?

I'll never grow up, will I? on 16:12 - Sep 15 with 1572 views | WeWereZombies | I made oatmeal porridge this morning, after remembering to measure out the right weight of oatmeal and the right amount of milk for it to soak overnight in yesterday evening. Before I got it on the go I had boiled an equivalent amount of hot water and used that to rinse out the last remains from a pot of honey, which it did very efficiently, and that brought the already heating oatmeal mixture along to the boil nice and quickly. Once on the boil I stirred away for four minutes, reducing the heat every thirty seconds but keeping it on the boil, then left it on the cooling hob for another minute. Transferring the saucepan to different areas of the stainless steel draining board for nicely controlled cooling down some more I even remembered that I had some blackberries picked a couple of days ago so a couple of dozen of those went in. Porridge heaven.

I'll never grow up, will I? on 16:21 - Sep 15 with 1477 views | ArnoldMoorhen | Ducks coming into land on a pond. Just before they hit the water their little legs start pumping frantically like the most manic thing you have seen, as they widen their wings to slam the brakes on. Then, in about a quarter of a second, they transform from that whirling dervish to swimming, with their wings tucked in, along the surface of the water, acting like they are totally chill and the coolest mofos on the planet. I try and catch their eye to go "I saw ya panicking, pal." That's my second favourite. My number one is the same duck a few months later, who comes into land and doesn't realise the pond has frozen over. Funny as. On those occasions I don't make eye contact with the duck, because it is already soaking up shame from the wider bird community, and it feels cruel to mock the afflicted.
I'll never grow up, will I? on 16:24 - Sep 15 with 1440 views | _clive_baker_ | Probably not a thing like that, but camping. They say its the little things in life don't they, I've always loved camping and used to do it a lot as a kid, rediscovered the joy of it over the past few years. Nothing beats waking up when the sun's coming up, with a nice view (love the rolling hills of Devon or Somerset), boil the water on the stove for a coffee. Went a month or so ago and had a little moment like that. Wife & daughter were still asleep, 4 year old son was off up & down the lane on his bike in his pyjamas. Contemplating buying a caravan but not sure if I'm cut out for that. Also agree with Homer, tits are great.

Never any excuse to confuse a Moorhen for a Coot...as the song goes: When the beak and the front Of the head are bright red That's...a Moorhen (Thanks to Alex Horne for that one) Few on here know that I rescue waterbirds for a sanctuary, so end up spending a bit too much time around them; I'll never get bored of feeding Canadas / Greylags, and watching one of them getting themselves a better position to eat by sneaking up behind another and biting them on the arse.

Many many years ago a pigeon sat on the crossbar in front of the north stand avd was greeted with a chant of “oh pidgy pidgy, pidgy pidgy pidgy pidgeon” Yesterday I was told that to chant that just cos I see a pidgeon in a tree is juvenile stupid and should grown up Guess what happened when I saw another pigeon 5 mins later!!

Then look back at the imaginary thing that you “tripped over” in a “what was that?” type way. I do it still to my grown up kids of 18 and 23, and they detest it/are amused by it in equal measures.
