Conditions obviously terrible, Ref as bad BUT 17:16 - Sep 20 with 2655 viewsJoey_Joe_Joe_Junior

More poor stuff from our 30M+ CB pairing, what is going on this season? Literally costing us points and today we might just have dodged a bullet. I’ve also seen McAteer get in great positions about 12 times since he’s signed and he’s literally picked the wrong ball every single time on wasted the opportunity. Doesn’t take on anyone and crossing poor.

Need to really wake up, the lack of concentration is not acceptable.

2 very average players. Both of them had a few moments this season where their heads have completely gone and they have given away goals and big chances. Nowhere near good enough so far.

Balls down the middle costing goals at this level in 3 or 4 games, inexcusable!

I remember the Burgess performance at Spurs 10 months ago and I just think he’s a better player, not always on the deck and a better left foot but what’s done is done, even if it was 18M apparent upgrade.

We need to wake the hell up!

Thing is. I remember Jacob Greaves in the championship last time and one thing he excelled at was winning first contacts. He had a better aerial win rate than Burgess. I dont know what's happened because I am seeing him getting pinned by strikers half his size, ending up on the floor under the slightest bit of pressure. It really is puzzling.

Not good to be in mid September and looking at him for goals in at least 3 of the games either.

Kipre is a ticking bomb - reckless and error prone. How on earth didn’t we offer Burgess a 3 year deal instead of loaning this Donkey.

Those two who played don’t have competition within our squad, unless Baggott are being elevated and performes well.

Anyone who isn't being disingenuous can see that we have been improving game by game, culminating in that 5-0 win against Sheffield United. Yes, they played into our hands and yes not everyone will allow us as much space, but nonetheless we showed that what can happen when it all clicks and now it has we can take that forward with confidence.

Today was really difficult to judge. In the first half with conditions tricky we were the better team, creating good chances, playing nice football. However, it's hard to do that the way the conditions got worse. How can you play quick flowing football if the ball keeps getting stuck in puddles? Yes, it's the same for both teams, but it turns the match into a lottery, you can't judge how we're playing in conditions like that.

Think that's pretty naive. Blades were absolutely awful. We'll only get a gift like that once a season. Ben Godfrey made that game about 3/4 more goals more comfortable than it should have been.

Our squad looks overpriced and totally disjointed. Manager only knows one way of playing which is fine but needs a steady and bought in playing staff. Which looks miles off.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Doesn’t matter if we have a lapse of concentration and concede. You’re being naive to these errors I’m afraid.

So you believe we're never going to make mistakes? Defence and the occasional lapse hasn't been our problem, up front has been and now that is getting sorted.

Couldn’t disagree more.

We need to cut them out, it can undo controlling a game for 90% of the time, we should not be making one or two major errors a week like this.

It absolutely has been a problem. Burnley didn’t get promoted giving away crap goals away like this. We aren’t going to be as free scoring as 23/24 either. Look at all our goals against this year, some awful ones already.

Mistakes have cost us dear so far, we will face a lot of low block spoilers this season and leaking goals is a huge no no. It won’t be like last time when we just outscored them

Apart from Derby it's all been odd goals here and there, penalties which have been the only way for the opposition to score. Yes, we have to cut out mistakes, but I believe we will be more free scoring up front, which in turn will free up the pressure on the defence. Attack is the key.

I think it's both. If we concede we allow opponents to manage the game, as both Preston and Derby did against us, which makes it trickier to score.

I'm 100% sure we'll hit a groove in a few weeks, and will be challenging at the top, but stopping conceding crap goals (or silly reds) will be an important part of that.

Disagree, Birmingham, Southampton, Preston the conceding of the pen, all poor as well. A couple have come with us struggling to play out and players being out of position.

Palmer ha: to make a smart save first half after a terrible ball from O’Shea. Needs to tighten up, quickly.

We do need to see an improvement for sure, hopefully the partnership can develop with game time. And you are right, we can't afford the current ratio of games to sloppy error from nothing balls.

Though it has to be said (not from you) but am amazed how apparently Cam Burgess was as good as Baresi now he's not with us. I thought Cam was our most improved player under McKenna, and no worse than Jacob in the Prem - but let's not forget Jacob has made less appearances than Cam did when he was attrocious against Barrow and was getting turned by Joe Ironside at Cambridge.

Teams are playing us very differently than two years ago for obvious reasons. If we concede a goal that allows them to go into complete time wasting spoilers mode and we can at times struggle to break that down. Of course you’ll get a few goals every 15 games or so but it’s happening weekly right now, that’s my point.

It’s not a sensible opinion our coach himself has called out plenty of other goals that we’ve conceded outside of Derby.

Harsh on O’Shea, think he has shown his qualities.

Greaves looks miles off the pace for a promotion chasing side.

We struggled to play out today, never mind attack. The contrast between the ability of Blackburn to play through us and us labouring to try and move the ball forward was stark. Blackburn also kept it very simple; quick passes and good movement. We had a tendency to dwell and then when we did get forward we often overplayed and ran into trouble. I’m not that keen on our zonal defence -it may work for all I know, but it makes us look passive and gives the opposition control. Luckily today Blackburn didn’t have much end product but they got into plenty of promising positions with relative ease.

It’s such a childish annoying phrase. I think it’s a fair question after some of the goals we have conceded. It’s frustrating because we basically aren’t conceding goals under any real pressure but gifting them.

Just back from the match. Re the centre backs. Up until the sending off they were very comfortable and assured. Greaves and O’Shea won everything in the air and Greaves threw himself into every block

Our fans were at the other end from the sending off so hard to comment except to say that I don’t think people understand how hard it was to judge a ball over the top as there was very little bounce and no one was ever in control of the ball.

At half time I said to my boy what a great pairing they were.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over
