I think we are still some way from being our best 13:04 - Sep 30 with 816 views | RIPbobby | Yes the back to back home wins have been most welcome, but are they flattering to deceive? You look back at the Blunts game and analyse our game. Jadens 3x goals were all snipes from distance. Great goals, but not really ITFC goals. The other 2 were shots through the keepers legs. Yes we had spells in the game where we played it about nice, but scored 0 Ipswich goals. The blunts played fairly well too. That was not a 5-0 game even though the scoreline says it. Look at the stats. Pompey game was better than the Blunts game, but still not our best. Again Jaden scored a snipe from 20+ yards. Lovely. Now the goal Hirst scored I would say was the type that got us promoted 2 seasons ago. Fast break down the left and centred to a forward who couldn't miss(although he almost did, lol). That was bloody brilliant and our first goal like this, this term. Again pompey played well second half. Pack played like a sweeper and controlled a lot of the game from the back. We didn't seem to notice that from the sidelines, which was disappointing. Again the stats point to it being a tight game. I guess we will see a lot more of these games this season as teams wont let us play. We still have a lot to work on in my eyes. Still some of our best players are not quite right within themselves. Hopefully we look ace tonight, although I think it will be a tough, tight game and as I have said many times tight for the first 60 minutes.

They were woeful in our penalty area, but they got in there quite a lot. I'll be disappointed if a team has as many touches in our box as they did.
I think we are still some way from being our best on 14:53 - Sep 30 with 608 views | Herbivore | The stats say we comfortably outplayed Sheffield United: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/c7408r78j39t#MatchStats Pompey game not as comprehensive but we had more shots, higher xG, more touches in the opposition area. The stats from both games tell you only one side should be winning and that's us, not sure what more you expect. [Post edited 30 Sep 15:26]

We can score better and more team goals as we improve, which we are likely to do. But flattering to deceive and ruling out three great goals is a stretch. We have quality players who can do that. That is part of this team's ability. But the whole not a 5-0 game is a bit much too. Apply that to Preston and we should have had 3 points. But our shooting wasn't good enough on that day. We have improved since then. Hirst almost missing is also a bit wild. His direction to Davis and lose his markers was excellent box play. Look at just him in the highlights for that goal. Underated as the end result was him doing a tap in. Everything before that was excellent movement from a striker. I think Bristol City will be tough, as the are a settled team and we are still gearing up. But they have played easier teams and I don't think they'll be in the top six by the end like last season.

OK so the keeper is on the left post and thus GH has more than 3/4 of the empty net to put it into. He just manages to squeeze it in via the side netting. Almost mishit it wide, that is my thinking. Reminded me of the miss from years ago where a ball was going in and big Harewood decided to smash it in at pace and managed to hit it against the post and wide. Close, but not cigar. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yep I concur with that. But we need to hit the target more.

Any forward will tell you, the best place to put the ball is in the inside of the side netting. Hirst's goal was nothing like Harewood's miss.
I think we are still some way from being our best on 16:30 - Sep 30 with 357 views | FrimleyBlue | Of course we're still some way from being our best, we've had 2 games with this squad training together as a squad As KM said, we're still getting players upto full fitness, This side will peak as i've stated since the summer, from November onwards, it'll have a slight winter wobble due to the football we play, then we go again in february and smash the league for the remainder and win the league by 2 points.

We've seen hardly anything of Akpom, Nunez, Egeli, Azon to name a few.... Once they are fully up to speed. And rotation and subs can be done seamlessly. Then I think we are in for a real treat this season. I've actually got that butterfly feeling in my gut for tonight's game. Which takes me back to the L1 feeling. Where you just know if it goes right. We could witness something awesome. And I think that win, lose or draw. We've got the fire power and strength on our bench to just give it a real go for 3pts tonight. Which is all you can ask for.. None of this low block, play for a point bllx..

I agree with you when you are trying to beat a keeper in goal. But the keeper was miles away. GH could have tripped up and fallen over and if it hits him it would be a goal. Leif did all the hard work here.

Or that goals from long shots don't really count? Bit of a weird take tbh. Clearly we can, and will, get better but we've just seen two very encouraging home wins with lots to be happy about. earlier in the season, there were moans about not scoring enough goals from open play. now we're scoring goals from open play, it's the wrong type of goal?! as long as they count, they'll do me!

There is no type of wrong goal my friend. Jaden has scored 4 twenty yarders in less than 2 games. That is unlikely to continue in those percentages. My point was we have not scored many open play games the way we did 2 seasons ago. Cant remember the exact numbers, but leif got something like 17/18 assists.

This is going to be the narrative from some all season unfortunately - every dropped point is a disaster, win and we should have won 'better', win convincingly and we only did so through luck or the opposition being bad.
