Sadly Netanyahu, by the actions of his Israeli govt, has alienated communities around the world thereby putting innocent Jewish communities at risk.

Yeah the fact they had to have security at a place of worship is pretty depressing in itself.

It's also about lack of understanding, misdirection of targeting. A synagogue in Manchester almost certainly has no direct links with - certainly no influence over - the government of Israel. Attacking the one will not hurt the other. Similarly with mosques and Islamic terror organisations. It's about dim and ill-informed, but rage-filled, individuals going after soft targets (which are actually innocent of the causes of their anger).

What if the IDF had shot his younger brother or sister as they were queuing for food. Still not right of course but i could understand the why.

Sounds horrific in Manchester on 13:16 - Oct 2 with 1765 views | Mullet | Right by our place. Helicopter overhead earlier, kid asked why they could hear sirens in my lesson. Kids being taken out by their parents. We are currently teaching antisemitism to Year 8 too. It’s absolutely awful. The community is a mix and lots of Orthodox Jews so there are lots of kids who go to faith schools. Also got a colleague who’s Jewish in our department. It’s just tragic

Sounds horrific in Manchester on 13:18 - Oct 2 with 1750 views | BloomBlue | And on Yom Kippur day, I guess that was deliberately chosen. Mrs Bloom and son are currently at a synagogue (in London), apparently armed police have arrived to provide extra protection - UK 2025, what a country we live in. I've suggested my Son not to wear his skull cap when he leaves the synagogue, but I know he won't, he won't give in to the racists, good man. Although I also know Mrs Bloom will insist they get a taxi, good woman. The Jewish community was expecting something like this as the anti Jewish hatred has been increasing over the last couple of years.

Completely agree, I was going to say similar but ended up not as we don't know the motive yet so didn't want to speculate, though I think it's more likely than not related to events in Gaza. Attacking regular Jewish folk because of the actions of the Israeli government is antisemitic and completely unacceptable, and as you say, also deeply misguided.

Indeed. It could be a purely personal matter. But, sadly, there is a high likelihood of it being otherwise.

And more than likely British nationals not Israeli, assuming all British Jews are Israeli, or supporters of Israel is racist in itself. [Post edited 2 Oct 13:29]

This awful tragedy really should not be conflated in any way with a conflict in another continent. It's a sickening waste of life perpetrated by sick maniacs, whatever their rational for it.

Quite. Edit: Indeed, judging by the protests, many Israelis don't support what their government are doing. [Post edited 2 Oct 13:32]

On that basis, anyone whose relatives were killed on October 7 could go down the local mosque and start shooting. Nonsense.
