Lost the ball a second later though. Unpopular opinion but Cajuste needs to do much better on and off the ball for me. A couple of pirouettes each game doesn't cut it. I'd say first 15-20 minutes of the 2nd half he was excellent, 1st half less so. He's such a good player, I think there's so so much more to come from him in terms of rounded performances.

I was getting quite cross with Jens yesterday. He wasn't showing for or taking care of the ball anywhere near well enough in the first half. As you say, flashes of brilliance won't be enough for top 2. It was noticeable for me just how more composed we were in possession when Nunez came on. I wonder if Nunez will be better suited for home games and Jens for away games where more 'legs' are needed?

Agreed. It's made more frustrating because of how much talent Cajuste clearly has. I really want to see him evolve from a bit luxury to more dependable. When it comes to his use of the ball and his decision making in tight areas he needs to put together complete more performances. He's so up and down, and was the same last season but that's to be expected at that level, at this one he has to be more consistent.

Totally agree, would love to see the stats but Matusiwa must run twice as far. We haven’t worked out our midfield for me, I do wonder if Cajuste would be better as a deeper 10 and play Nunez and Azor in the 2.

Makes you wonder if that's the main reason that Cajuste never took off at Napoli? You can't be that loose in possession at the elite level. You can just about get away with it in the Champ, but not on the big occasions when it's all about the fine margins.

I'll agree with both of you here Think he got an ear full at half time the way he started so much better the second half The guy can change from minute to minute ..literally Hoping consistency becomes a thing for him ...quality player without a shadow of a doubt

I think the issue with playing Nunez or Cajuste in the 10 is you've then got Taylor coming on. I don't mind Taylor but I think his days are numbered and having Cajuste and Nunez to yin yang next to Matusiwa is the way forward. Had we got the Hackney deal over the line I dare say he would've been nailed on in that role and it would've been Cajuste backing him up, and Nunez wouldn't have been signed. As it stands its there for either to stamp their mark on it, which is no bad thing.

Interestingly, he's got pretty decent stats overall yesterday. https://fbref.com/en/matches/cccd99a0/Ipswich-Town-Norwich-City-October-5-2025-C

There might be something in that. There's a world of difference between a naturally gifted player and a highly effective one on a consistent basis. He's clearly a better footballer than Luongo on paper but what Massimo did so well was consistently deliver a level. You just knew what you would get from him, in and out of possession. Cajuste needs to flatten his line a bit, it's chaotic at times. Especially in the role he's playing, concentrate on ball retention, don't over complicate it, and deliver 7 out of 10 performances for 60-70 minutes of games rather than the 15 minutes of world beater to panel beater we're seeing. He's fooking strong and has so much ability, if he can do that he's one of the best in the division, hands down.

I'm torn on this because yes it's frustrating when he loses it, but would you not rather he continues to take risks because the alternative is too safe for how teams set up against us?
