These new EU checks 14:25 - Oct 8 with 837 views | bluelagos | From what I'm reading "some people" will be getting finger printed and photos taken on entry to Europe, but not all. Anyone know more? Why is it some and not all? And ideas on the proportion likely to be getting stopped?

Application, like most border related things will potentially vary by country and sometimes the person you are seen by. I'd insist it is done though, as could impact how you travel afterwards. This is our explanation of it: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/eu-entryexit-system
These new EU checks on 15:11 - Oct 8 with 662 views | earlsgreenblue | With a 6 month roll out so not all countries & or entry exits at the same time, also with the ability to turn the system off if queues get to big, check the Eurostar EES terminals & some of the questions being asked if you use that route. As has been mentioned, once you are in the system it will be much quicker “ potentially “, living in the EU I’m already finger printed & have a biometric id I’m obliged to carry so it won’t effect me as much. Great idea in my opinion, pity the UK drags its heels on this sort of thing if it hadn’t we wouldn’t even be talking about it!

Wait, is it not the EU dragging it's heels? ETIAS was supposed to be rolled out in 2024 for visitors to the EU, I thought. The UK has already has ETA in place and if approved, those countries citizens can quickly use E-gates at the UK Border. [Post edited 8 Oct 15:44]

I flew into Malaga last week, and the staff said they are getting ready for it.

Us Brexit voters don't venture abroad mate. We're all flying St George's flags on the beaches of Margate.

Surely somewhere more like Southend. Margate is quite the bohemian bolthole these days. Keep up mate.

First start date was January 2021, looks like it will be April 2026.
