Belgian league has different rules and different precedents. Go and play in the Belgian league if your pitch is going to be let you down a few times a season.

If they aren't confident their side can beat us in better conditions, at home, for another full 90 minutes, then it says a lot. They know it was a fluke and are scared of losing, aren't they? Lol.

Ref hit by a cup thrown by a fan is not the same as pitch is unfit to play on.

You just know it will snow. This game was never meant to finish

My first thought is why did the fourth official not take over as ref for the remaining few minutes?

Or if it’s a proven to be Standard fan who lobbed the cup, award the game to the opposition....only way they’ll learn not to do this stuff is if it hurts their own team

I know that this has worked favourably for us, but let’s not pretend if the shoe was on the other foot we wouldn’t have fans behaving in exactly the same way as some of Blackburn’s supporters.

Although we also apply the same distinction here and would probably do the same if a game was halted by crowd trouble. It’s when the halt is outwith of anyone’s control that a game is replayed (although I’d argue Blackburn are to blame through failure to maintain a pitch of suitable standard, but that’s a different issue).

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Well, I certainly wouldn't have an issue with it, if the shoe was on the other foot. 'Them's the rules', there are no significant precedents to petition for a replay of the last 10 minutes to be played, with 10 v 11, similar conditions, etc. I'd be fancying my team to use the perceived 'injustice' of their pitch being totally unplayable and having the game abandoned on 80 minutes as a way to incentivise a proper 'revenge' replay. They just seem to be bleating, tbh.

Have confidence in your team being able to finish the job. What message does it send your team if the fans are crying about the replay?

They've got a point that numerous European leagues have rules about completing an abandoned game within 48 hours of postponement. Obviously context is important (weird they do it for fan trouble) but certainly it applies to weather-related incidents.

But we don't in this country - so it's a full replay. I'm fine with Rovers being a bit peeved about the overall situation and the lack of clear rules from the governing body but any animosity towards us is incredibly misplaced.

Probably for 24 hours after the event, but not weeks after, but also i'd hope there wouldn't be the same media coverage of it either, it was all rather odd

That's the distinction which seems to be lost on many.

Circumstances beyond human control (weather, act of God etc.) as opposed to a game being cancelled as a direct result of a half-wit in the crowd.

Its not difficult.
