You'll notice they put Citizen Kane on over the Christmas period. Dark, cold outside, holiday time, people sat slightly bored. Have the fire on, the wind howling outside, mid-afternoon, first drink of the day and put it on. Those conditions suit it and is how I watched it. Of course its black and white too, so mood needs to be right. At its core its about very wealthy people buying the press, for influence. So its still relevant.

I used to have it on VHS years ago and watched it a few times, but can honestly say I haven't seen it in 20 years. I can understand why it's so highly rated by critics and film buffs, because it was so innovative (non-linear storytelling, the camera setups/angles etc, that spinny newspaper thing which I think it invented(?) ). It just doesn't get the pulse racing which is probably why so many people are left underwhelmed by it.

Sounds odd but Blade Runner. Never managed to stay awake for it.

Also any of the Christopher Nolan non-Batman films and Spielberg classic ET.

Quite a few mentions for 'The Godfather' trilogy in this thread and in a similar vein I think I have only seen the first 'Dumb and Dumber'. I didn't even realise that a prequel had been made, which makes the third film made in the trilogy the sequel. And now I find out that a third film is planned so I will have three films still to watch to complete the trilogy of which I have only seen the first one. I hope Town get automatic promotion because the play-offs might deny me the time for this important cultural osmosis.

Funnily enough I wasn't that into Heroin back in the day, great film though, I would say more Human Traffic for me.

Godfather 1 & 2 are both superb. Aged well and stand up to anything made today. Must watch if you haven't seen them.
It's a wonderful life is the greatest xmas film ever (apart from Elf obviously).
I'm still to catch Citizen Kane but will at some point.

Still haven’t seen what Debbie actually did to Dallas.

The morals of DDD are pretty good much better than that film from 78 Grease.

Star Wars films.

I certainly wasnt going to watch the original when on the other screen was a film with a load of naked females in it. Star Wars was for the kiddies, and Ive never watched it or any of them.

Never fear, I wouldn’t, heard enough about it and I didn’t mean to include it in my ‘kids list’!

I don't trust anyone who hasn't seen Star Wars as a matter of principle.

Probably loads of classics I've not seen, mainly older films as they mostly look a bit crap these days.

Fargo

'Fargo' is very good, as is 'Raising Arizona', 'Blood Simple', 'Barton Fink' and just about every other Coen Brothers film but 'The Big Lebowski' is the best of all and one everyone should see before they die.

But that's,like, just my opinion, man...
