For all the money we've spent... 16:51 - Nov 22 with 2576 viewsBlacknGoldnBlue

we have recruited a few too many that just aren't good enough. Is this down to KM or is it down to our recruitment process?

Poll: Following Saints game, when will Ipswich have their next permanent signing?

Bit of both, but McKenna has lost his magic touch. He is aware substitutions can take place before 65 mins. If this team gets promoted it would be worse than last season.

Both.

Absolutely awful recruitment, thrown a huge chunk of money away downgrading the squad.

In itself it’s quite a remarkable achievement to spend £125m+ and be worse than our squad that was in L1.

The happy clappers won't like it but you're absolutely right. Akpom. Mcateer. Getting rid of Broadhead and Chappers. Bizarre and frankly criminal. That's why we'll finish mid table.

When we can't beat Wrexham and all the injuries they have..Says it all ..mckenna just gets in players that are too nice, meek well mannered that will listen to him listen pupils in a school ,no way would he sign a player that has a touch of arrogance, and rgo but will likely score 30 goals..thats what's going to keep us in championship for a few years..mckenna needs to change

It's down to a combination of KM and Ashton imo. We have some excellent players. You can't say they're not good enough as a lot have spent their careers in the PL or been top Championship players. But we have a lot of players being forced into positions that don't seem to suit them. And we have too many similar players who play as individuals and not part of a team (which was our secret sauce last time out).

Or in short, we've lost sight of the balance by trying to sign the best players.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

And yet both seem to be untouchable in most people's eyes. Either lots of money has been wasted, or excellent players are being coached/managed poorly. It has to be one or the other.

We're a third of the way through the season, and we haven't beaten any team outside the current bottom 10. As far as results go, McKenna and Ashton are both underperforming. That is clear.

Recruitment has been laughably bad.

Signed a bunch of bang average players for massive fees.

Egeli, Mcateer, Akpom, Azon.

Poor

Only two of those we have actually purchased and Walle egli looks decent to me, macateer has played what 8 games ?

Every time we don’t win this forum goes into meltdown, Wrexham have lost one away game this season. We missed some decent chances and wanted a couple of great opportunities it happens.

The only Muff in Town.

Egeli looks decent yeh. He’s THE most expensive player in championship history. We need more. His decision making and shot selection is baffling.

As for Mcateer. Good heavens.

In terms of what we have spent, our recruitment has probably been a D- since we got promoted, maybe C+ at best. My hope is we can just find a way this year and start again, as it would need another huge overhaul. If we don’t go up we will be here for a long time with what’s coming down.

We do have a deluded fanbase when it’s comes to Ashton in the market. Of course we got some right but too many wrong.

Agree SB, it seems that the team spirit we had during the rise from L1 to the Prem is now a distant memory, sadly.

I don’t think the window was as bad as suggested here

Azor - 7.5/8 , he’s been solid most games he’s played
Nunez - 6.5/7 , been good qpr, wba, Norwich, but needs to improve fitness
Kipre - 7 , defence looks better with him in it over Greaves
Egeli - 6, you can see “it” will come
Azon - 6, looks good but needs to bag a few more
Cajuste - 5 , no where near expectations in this league
Furlong - 6, been alright I think
Young - 5, not played enough
Akpom - 5, not played enough , sounded poor today
McAteer - 4,

I think the issue is we've recruited a squad that 95% of know they are being moved on if we go up are sitting on nice fat contracts and don't have the desire. Wrexham wanted the result more today. Add in the mix we've signed players that some are square pegs in round holes and its easy to see why we will do well to reach the top six this year.

I think those scores are fair. Young remains a puzzling signing for me. Can't be cheap wages. The fact that none of them signings aren't 8 out of 10s is concerning. We need better striker options for sure

Young may have been signed with a view to a future coaching role perhaps? That said surely he should be getting more game time.

Has he looked decent or are people being very forgiving because of his age? He’s been poor more often that he hasn’t been to me.

KM …. Playing players out of position. No Plan B. Failing to recruit right players for right positions. All on the highest paid manager in the championship. Been very poor this season.

Its fiwn to the manager. HE identifies the players he wants. The recruitment team set about making that happen. This is 100% McKenna's squad now. No excuses.

He's a kid in a new country, he'll get there. Not his fault we paid that much for him and think it's pretty stupid that people use price tags to bash players to be honest.

The bigger problem are his more experienced colleagues that spend half the game farting about with the ball and getting nowhere with it.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

He’s had a fair amount of game time.

So far we’ve seen 1 cross field ball, 2 assists, and a nice flick vs Norwich. What else has he done that makes him above average? Genuine question
