For all the money we've spent... 16:51 - Nov 22 with 2761 viewsBlacknGoldnBlue

we have recruited a few too many that just aren't good enough. Is this down to KM or is it down to our recruitment process?

Cajuste ~ is anyone ready to discuss the lack of anything he’s given us this season?

He had 15 minutes today and was about the only CM that turned his man and got it up the pitch. It lead to the penalty shout and the McAteer sitter.

Thought Taylor didn’t do much, another tame powder puff effort on goal as well from a good opening.

Egeli an average player? You sure about that…

Right now, yes 100% sure.

He may well get better, he may well have a high ceiling. But he is currently our first choice right winger and thus far has not offered anywhere near enough. I’m not writing him off by any means but he can’t get a free pass when he is clearly not offering much in the final third.

He’s had a fair amount of game time.

So far we’ve seen 1 cross field ball, 2 assists, and a nice flick vs Norwich. What else has he done that makes him above average? Genuine question

His control, his touch, ability on the ball, his size, his desire to try a shot (which is happening more frequently, he’s not afraid to get stuck in, his sheer ability. Apart from that what have the Romans done for us?

I’ve seen him up close. The doomsters love beat up these players with the money spent. A key weapon. Why I’ve no idea. It’s nothing to do with the player and it’s not the moaners’ money either. When he moves on, if he’s sold for £2.50 and a packet of giant beef hula hoops people can wet the bed and moan about a waste of money. But not until then.

But I’ve seen a lot of young players at this club over many years and he is as good a certainty to be a top player as I’ve seen in a very long time. He just needs game time and support.

I think the issue is we've recruited a squad that 95% of know they are being moved on if we go up are sitting on nice fat contracts and don't have the desire. Wrexham wanted the result more today. Add in the mix we've signed players that some are square pegs in round holes and its easy to see why we will do well to reach the top six this year.

I don't think Wrexham "wanted it more", just they had a game plan to play for a draw, they worked hard, were well organised & we weren't good enough to break them down.
Sometimes out strategy of walking the ball out from the back, allowing Wrexham to organise themselves, was bizarre because when we played at a higher tempo for a while in the first half, they were on the ropes, but we eased off.

He’s getting plenty of time, and support. I don’t think it’s an issue discussing on a message board if he’s shown huge levels of quality as yet.

Talk to me about this ability on the ball, what does that mean? I ask this from a curious place, as I can’t say I’m seeing it in abundance as yet.

His best game was qpr where he was beating his man, since then, has he tried it? Didn’t see it once today.

If that's all you've seen so far, that says more about you than him.

And a good game at QPR. Clearly dealing with a football expert here, so over to you, please do tell me what you’ve seen that I haven’t, if that’s ok?

I don’t think the window was as bad as suggested here

Azor - 7.5/8 , he’s been solid most games he’s played
Nunez - 6.5/7 , been good qpr, wba, Norwich, but needs to improve fitness
Kipre - 7 , defence looks better with him in it over Greaves
Egeli - 6, you can see “it” will come
Azon - 6, looks good but needs to bag a few more
Cajuste - 5 , no where near expectations in this league
Furlong - 6, been alright I think
Young - 5, not played enough
Akpom - 5, not played enough , sounded poor today
McAteer - 4,

Well we brought Greaves for 15M, a year earlier, so not sure you can count that as much of a win. In fact it has to be a major disappointment that he isn’t one of, if not the best defenders in the Champ for the fee we paid and 15+ months with McKenna.

None of these are really true home runs, some decent players in there but for net spent overall the last two summers haven’t been good enough. This summer we’ve done some fairly good business. I like Azor, Nunez is a decent buy as well. Akpom, McAteer and a few of the others I just don’t see it for now.

I saw a guy from Blue Monday on a Wrexham Pod that suggested no one had put a foot wrong since game changer came in. I disagree and think there’s delusion in some our fanbase because of how bad it was before. The recruitment has been way off at times with a few that were surely panic buys or for the sake of it.

Pen shout was the end of the first half, I don’t recall one in the second.

I’m just not seeing anything remotely close to the level expected from JC as yet

You seem to miss quite a lot. Just saying.

Are you talking about JC our joint top scorer? The player with the highest goals per minutes in the Championship this season? That JC?

Good grief. Get off the internet.

It was handball before McAteer lashed it wide, same sequence on the blocked header. Unnatural position, tough to spot for ref to be fair, would have been overturned on VAR though.

First half wasn’t a Pen on Akpom for me.

Yeah never a pen on Akpom, just a coming together

Sorry I don’t recall a handball, take your word for it though, I was likely huddled in a ball freezing in my seat with eyes closed!

Yup, walking football is dull and ineffective. It allows them to always reset and carry out their game plan.

Bit of both, but McKenna has lost his magic touch. He is aware substitutions can take place before 65 mins. If this team gets promoted it would be worse than last season.

You’re right it would be worse and we’d also be obliged to sign loan players who are hardly setting the Championship alight let alone the Premier League
