When will they learn another tactic!!!

When a team has 19 shots, 8 of which are on target, and 23 crosses it really isn’t boring.

That this results on a goal less draw isn’t really predictably.

Get a life.

To be fair, it was very predictable and slow.

It was terrible end product and far too slow.

The fact that we would be poor at taking our chances was certainly predictable.

Bottom line…..too many draws, only one team has drawn more. No surprise that team is Wrexham.

I don’t see how KM and his coaching staff feel moving the ball slowly is going to break sides down with a low block? If anything it makes it easier for teams to keep their defensive shape. This is where he needs to do better. Derby, Watford and now Wrexham have used this tactic and come away from PR with the share of the spoils. They’ve done their job, we need to be better.

Maybe the players aren't following his instructions (or aren't able to).

These are KM’s players he works with them daily. It was the same last season too. We went up to the Premier League playing a brand of football all the other teams played but at a slower pace.

Maybe he like he just feels we are going to grind them down and get a goal from a mistake or a half chance. Like say, we did against West Brom.

Well we clearly can’t rely on that.

I am finding it hard to understand why we don’t just try a shift (even mid game at half time) to a different formation. Yes I understand McKenna’s system is not a rigid formation etc etc. But surely worth trying something more aggressive in a match so one sided in attacking intent.

Ajust to a fixed back 3 and have 2 right up top. We couldn’t stretch their numbers the back to create enough clear cut attempts.

But it’s not really moving players out of position to create space in other parts of pitch if we continually keep moving it slowly from one side of the pitch to the other. As an opposition defender that’s got to be straightforward to deal with especially if everything is in front of you.

I agree it’s far too rigid and pre planned. Obviously we will win some of them like WBA but others like Watford and today we will drop points. The lack of composure in front of goal is really frustrating as well. Can’t have it, a lot of these are 8 figure signings.

With a squad a fraction of the cost of ours.

The difference was their manager got more out of his players and a very effective game plan, than ours seems able to do....

Walle, Akpom & McAteer have 17 league starts plus 13 sub appearances between them & no goals. Can't exactly remember many assists. We also haven't been getting much product from Szmodics (7 starts & 3 subs). Hard to believe anyone thinks McKenna is getting anywhere near the best out of these players.

You clearly never saw Ferguson’s, Duncan’s, Mick’s, Lamberk’s or Hurst’s teams if you thought that was boring.

We tried to play football and win the game today. We didn’t. It’s very disappointing and there’s a lot of work to be done, but it’s sport. It happens.

My first game attended was 1985.

Let’s just be honest with ourselves, this one and only tactic doesn’t work against defensive teams and stubbornness in regards to tactics will be our downfall over the season

Valid. When I watch, I look to see what good options to progress the ball the player with the ball has. And so often there is none. Players are either out of sight, not moving and therefore being marked or they are lateral or behind (ie the safe pass). Whether it is down to training or player's inabilities, I do not know. But look at good teams, players always have good options.

Boring and predictable on 11:39 - Nov 23 with 322 viewsoldbeardy

Agree with the points about being a bit slow and predictable. The players don't seem to be able - or perhaps they aren't allowed - to be spontaneous. For example, we seem to wait to get into our set positions when Walton has the ball even when a quicker release from him to a player in space looks on.

We literally won our previous game 4-1.
We're unbeaten in 5 (another of those was a 4-1 win).

You reactionary 'baby out with the bathwater' types do my nut in. If McAteer puts his sitter away yesterday none of you lot are on here today, wailing.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Does not address our weakness against low press teams. Both 4-1 wins were against teams that were at least playing on the front foot allowing us space to operate. Because of this our wretched away form has become respectable while our home form has diminished. But close your eyes if you want to our recent 4 points in 4 games at home to piss poor teams.

I was purely addressing the OPs "When will they learn another tactic!!!"

5 games undefeated, including two 4-1 wins, suggests we do have some other tactics.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.
