£1 mill pound new PA System.. but it will be loud, so anyone who doesn't like it loud, erm, be ready

ST holders who don't attend may lose their ST's if they dont resell via the club and leave empty seats

New Sir Bobby picture above the club shop - very soon

It was really strange to see how luxurious the new lounges are, new chairmans boardroom etc, and then you do think of that cobbold and west stand roof, just night and day isn't it.

Re the STs, hopefully something similar re away games and fans not using them. The buy a ticket just for the points, but not using it, is still continuing. As all clubs move to scanning tickets, hopefully the club can use the data from away games, and if you dont use them they can deduct double the points from your total.

The ticket thing is fair enough. I get you may miss some matches. This year is bad for me I will have missed 3 games by Xmas, hopefully no more but have made my ticket available each time. It does annoy me where people in the block I am in leave seats empty (some quite regularly) when there are people who can't get one.

Regarding away tickets, it's a closed shop and some people likely buying a ticket to accrue points leaving people like me no chance other than long weekday away games which I can't do due to work. If people don't use the away ticket I'd dock them 5 points personally.

The PA discussion is interesting - the fact that they replaced the speakers, but it transpires that the wiring simply isn't good enough.

Did anyone else find that a little surprising? I'd have thought a decent PA supplier would have been able to identify the cabling as the issue from the off, rather than selling the club some new speakers which don't really solve the issue?

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

The season ticket thingy is rubbish. Will probably be totally illegal.

I’m sure others have already stated this but season ticket holders do not own their season ticket or seat. The club retains ownership and they can take it if or when they choose to.

Doesn’t that depend what questions the PA suppliers were asked?

We need some new speakers.
Ok, here you are.

Er, those speakers aren’t really working.
Ok. Nothing wrong with those speakers …could be additional problems. We can take a look.
Ok.
Your electrics are rubbish.

It could be a case of hopeful the speakers would fix the issue. Ie they knew wiring was old and the work to replace it extensive/expensive, and with everything else going on with PL promotion replacing the cabling was too big at that point. So the decision was made to replace the speakers (they had to be replaced anyway) and see if that would provide some improvement and if no replace the cabling a season or two later when less upgrades were happening?

Could be that the cabling and the speakers were the problem, so they decided to fix the easiest bit first, knowing what they were buying would then still be part of the eventual solution if it hadn't worked.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

‘So if I have a heart attack a couple of days before a game and in hospital fighting for my life unable to login & resell and miss the Tues night game, when I recover I will find my season ticket sold?’

No, don’t be so dramatic.

You say that but im fairly certain the guy who used to sit in front of me had exactlty that happen and has since died, but his seat was always empty for about the last 3rd of the season.

Another guy I know has literally not known which games he can make this season as the hospital keep postponing his treatment that will knock him out for about 3 games assuming it goes well.

Life isn't perfect, people live very imperfectly planned lives we shouldn't force perfection on them, and things are slightly more important than a football game sometimes.

I thought that thing about the season tickets being empty seemed odd. They still get the money if no-one sits there. Or is he suggesting that fans might buy things inside the ground. I feel bad as I haven't bought anything inside the ground in a good few years. I just come for the football and go. :)

I haven't bought anything at the ground for 3 seasons due to the cost.

The one time I did try, there was no queue at the server point, the servers were standing around doing nothing, and I ordered a drink and they went oh no we cant accept orders you have to go over there, to order it on the machine then we can serve you.

So I just went ok, I won't bother then. Thats money the club dont get.

The pricing in the stadium has rocketed up since the new owners took over. I did have to raise an eyebrow to Ashton's comments about wanting to be fair to the fans with pricing, in that respect.

I get that the owners will be targeting a certain return on investment, and that punters within the stadium are a captive audience, but please don't try and claim that pricing for various bits and pieces (tickets, food, drink, merchandise etc.,) has been set with fairness in mind.

Cobbold Stand development is very interesting. I think PR is a beautiful stadium, we're lucky not to have some soulless out of town identikit stadium. I love that it's in the town, proper 4 stand ground, stones throw from the station. Its superb, but the Cobbold does let it down a bit, I think it will be really special when that's done.

Personally a PA system would be so far down my list of priorities, doesn't bother me 1 bit but appreciate it obviously does for others.

The bit that jumped out at me there was Ashton's comment that the club had secured/earmarked land 'on the other side of the road'.

Does that potentially mean that, as would make sense, Portman Road could end up being built over in order to accommodate a larger 'in-stand' area?

I think that's the plan, or at least move Portman Road. The new Cobbold I presume will come out much further than the current one, across PR and perhaps a new road built on the car park. Must admit I've not followed the designs closely but wasn't there talk of an aquatics centre and gym there, presume that's tied in to the considerations.

Yes, if you look at the designs they released with the council, Portman road is pushed back from where it is into a curved road whist the stand goes back across the current road and into the car park. It's big.

He also mentioned future plans for other areas around the ground

i wondered, what is the building behind the fanzone? i think but i may be wrong it was an old bus depot?

I wondered if we could be looking to buy those sort of areas or perhaps the old astro turf area in front of the houses and then we could move back the west stand to make that bigger too and then the fan zone would be moved backwards a bit..

I was referring to the function someone pointed out the other week - it might even have been you - where you can now transfer the ticket to someone else without having to call the ticket office to get a PDF.

If I'm understanding Frimmers' comments correctly, it seems that even using that wouldn't be an 'acceptable' method of ensuring the ticket gets used.

As long as the person is on your friends and family list that's correct. If they're not, you still need to ring the ticket office
