Change this super cautious, over anxious , possession football that produces a dismal defeat or the happy with a point excuse.
How do certain players who are struggling to impress still get game time despite doing very little to influence the result.
Feel sorry for Conor Townsend who is currently out injur ed but got minimal game time when he was available to play. I feel Cameron Humphreys could also feel he is unlucky not to feature too.
I also suggest Leif Davis could play left midfield to give us more attacking presence.
The Hull City game was difficult to watch in big parts of the game and it was repeated v Oxford.
Oxford were there for the taking i felt. And again, the big substitution switch did not pay off. Yet, despite possession we could not turn that into goals.
After watching the game there was the usual radio post match analysis to over assess what was a game we should of won . Giving away a sloppy goal to begin with was not necessary and the Oxford 2nd goal was from a punt up field.
When we can get the ball forward and into the box quicker with quality crosses then we may win more games convincingly.

In terms of their second goal, I’ve seen Jack Taylor do that lofty diagonal ball to no one so many times when we need a goal towards the end of games. Whether it’s Old Trafford or Oxford, same thing.

Agree on that one. Matusiwa was obviously at fault for their first, but Taylor was less obviously but as much at fault for their second. It was a lazy and unnecessary pass.

We have been conceding that second goal so many times this season. Long diagonal ball over the top kills us often. Also I think workmanlike teams like playing us as they know what they need to do. Keep it tight and punt it forward.

The header down from that diagonal ball fell to one of their players, in yards of space. Where were our midfield following up? The ball did what it was intended to do, but the gap between the strikers and back up was vast. 5 seconds later its 2-1.

I agree with Davis playing left midfield and to get the crosses in. So players will know to get in and around the box.
Also agree that Cameron Humphreys can hold his own at left back.
The front two could include Philogene or Jack Clarke because we need ball players and pace up front. Too many times there is no one to meet the cross. It would be more exciting to see a player carry the ball and play the old 1-2.
The last two games, despite the win @ Hull, the performance is short of convincing.

The issue is we don't have an issue with left midfielders. On their day Philogene and Clarke are more than good enough. Neither have built a good rapport with Davis, and that is part of the problem both defensively and as an attacking unit.

Humphreys is alright if you have all the ball but far from ideal as your back up left back
I'd rather we were using Greaves in that role who looks better there than centre back imho
Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!
"super cautious, over anxious" doesn't really describe what I see. Although I do feel at times we overplay it and don't inject enough urgency into our attacks.
I am not sure who those struggling to impress are. There isn't any position where I can think someone who is playing better is getting less chance.
It is funny how players not playing suddenly become better than the players who are (until they play). I do feel we miss Burns, though. I also think we should be playing Humphreys by now as well. He could be playing 10 or midfield or left back and I would like to see him first choice sub in at least one of those positions.
This idea of Davis left midfield. Can you clarify? Are you suggesting we change our formation or are you suggesting left attacking role in place of Philogene and Clarke?
I agree we aren't continually dominating the opposition and that is, at times, costing us. I didn't feel Oxford were there for the taking, though. They were very well organised and took the chances they got. I thought they played very well. However, we gifted them a goal and when we did have a spell and get back into the game we then got sloppy again and lost it.

It's not rocket science is it, left back, what left back, he's not there, crash, bang, wallop.
KM puts far too much work load on Davies, our left back area has huge gaps when the opposition counter attack, this has been going on for a long long while.
