The problem here is that legislation doesn't equate to fundamental individual acceptance of others and personal growth. Personally I feel that the ongoing narrative of ruthless individualism over any meaningful sense of the collective/society is the death of us.
I do accept that current events might be making this feeling more intense than it might be. |

And it was not supportive of the Corbyn-led Labour Party, with Owen Jones probably the only journalist with pro-Corbyn views. All other columnists were pretty to very hostile.

the guardian gets far more right than it gets wrong. and, more broadly than news, it is more consistently interesting than the others. but party politics is quite a narrow way of measuring these things. it is narrowly representative of the metropolitan middle class and encapsulates all the social assumptions that comes with that. if you agree with those assumptions you label them as 'progressive' if you disagree with them then the label is probably 'statist and elitist establishment'. regardless of that it's my go to place for a champagne butter recipes and rachel roddy makes it worth the read. | |

I don't think your average Guardian reader would have been voting for the People's Front of Corbyn to start with tbh. Or are the Corbyn Peoples Front?
Most Guardian readers are closer to the centre than that. Obviously all lefties, but I wouldn't say hard left.
So in answer to your question, I suspect that most of us think that the Corbyn/Sultana show is panning out exactly as we'd have expected it to. |

I can't say I like any of the four proposed names for the Party, namely, Your Party, Our Party, For the Many, and Popular Alliance.
And I think Corbyn was right to think that a collective leadership involving no MPs (which they've opted for) is not a good way forward.
With the Greens occupying much the same space, I can't see much point for such a separate left wing party in the absence of PR.
It's also difficult to think of it having much organisation or making much impact outside the large cities, or perhaps even only in some constituencies in those cities. [Post edited 30 Nov 13:32]

I say this tongue in cheek but what I do find amusing about this fairly playful thread is that it's been set up the righties to bash the lefties but none of the lefties are supporting the YP debacle anyway, so it has fallen a bit flat!!!

It has made me think deeper though where disaffected righties go. Surely reform can't be the only destination for them. That's seriously sad if it is.
But the tories are just sh1te. Badenoch's performance in the house this week in response to the budget where she mimicked and mocked Reeves was just pathetic.
