Lots of clubs have done just that though. Article here says they didn't give Farke a new contract and almost replaced him in the summer so sounds like he was on borrowed time anyway. I assume their thinking with Farke is pay off £5m or so but potentially save their PL future which is £120m+.
| You've lost me a bit here Grizzers.... on 14:35 - Dec 1 with 804 views | Bloots | ....you're saying we did the right thing to keep KM and that Leeds are doing the wrong thing to get rid of Farke? What if they sack him and his replacement keeps them up? The worse thing that can happen is they sack him and get relegated anyway, in which case they'll be in exactly the same position as us this season. But potentially higher in the league at this stage. Seems totally logical to bin him in their situation really. | |

Like Southampton and Leicester you mean?

....they sacked their managers, we didn't, but we are all within 3 points of each other in the Championship having been relegated. Given that they will most likely get relegated if they keep him (like we did), they might as well try someone different, there isn't really a downside other than a few quid in compensation which is easily affordable.

If they think their replacement would be more suited to getting them promoted again than Farke would, then yeah, kinda get your point. Depends if they really don't think he can turn it around this season.

Different clubs, different trajectories I guess. We would have been foolish to throw away everything McKenna built, with us arriving in the PL ahead of schedule? Leeds as we know have an elevated sense of worth, so with their owners thinking they should be top 4 because they are, well Leeds, and building a bigger stadium it's no surprise. All they are likely to get of course is a mercenary who will take the money and be sacked again in the summer. As Saints and Leicester did. Why I thought we were right to keep McKenna, no matter the outcome last season as we were still building as as club. I do wonder how twitchy the owners were getting though seeing our rivals roll the dice and was Ashton that 'shield' for McKenna? I do think McKenna will walk if we don't go up this season though. ....in two totally different kettles. We were right not to sack him at this stage last year, but to me it seems that Leeds might as well go for it. They've got nothing to lose. As an aside, I agree that if we don't go up this year (or at worst go very close) I expect KM will leave us via one route or another. Be interesting to see if Ashton is around once the training ground is done as well. He left Bristol at the same stage and it might be the right time here too.

| Farke with two games to save his job on 17:39 - Dec 1 with 366 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | We had just giving McKenna top 6 money hadn't we? Was never going to happen. He was safe all year as we knew and has he should have been. If Leeds get someone in that keeps them up they will look very good for making a mid season call. In the general football sphere, I would imagine McKenna's stock has fallen quite significantly since January. | |

| Farke with two games to save his job on 18:29 - Dec 1 with 247 views | JammyDodgerrr | They should've sacked him in the summer - his PL record is abysmal and they wanted to, but backed out of it. Would've been the right thing to do to move him on and try a more established PL manager. | |

| Farke with two games to save his job on 19:00 - Dec 1 with 205 views | ernie | Was it ? And why was it ‘absolutely the right decision’? Time will tell on that one but you can’t say that his replacement wouldn’t have kept us up. | | | |

Are you suggesting Leeds will appoint Russell Martin in his place ?
