There were actually some good performances and moments across the pitch tonight. Think many will focus on us not grabbing the game. But it was an essential against what I thought was a strong opponent. But Kipre and OShea were imperious… didn’t look like we’d concede.

| Philogene is a brilliant player… on 21:59 - Dec 10 by Wallingford_Boy | His best game for a while. Oddly the commentator didn’t see it, said how quiet he’d been! I do wish he’d be more aggressive with his first touch though, take it across the full back, Leif Davis style. But guess that isn’t his style. |
Sky commentator? He and Terry Gibson were tactically illiterate. Said at Half Time that Ipswich were poor and had been outplayed by Stoke who were really good, completely ignoring the fact that, having got the early lead, we were drawing them on, absorbing absolutely everything, and then hitting them very effectively, and at times brilliantly, on the break. And Philogene was key to that. As I said elsewhere, had Azon put the ball under the bar rather than over it, the interchange between Nuñez and Egeli, and then Egeli's crossfield ball to Philogene, Davis' shot and Azon's emphatic finish, would have been the iconic goal of the season. Egeli showed the vision, awareness and execution of Chaplin in that moment, but at an incredibly young age (and he has additional physical advantages over Chaplin as well.)
| Philogene is a brilliant player… on 09:01 - Dec 11 with 207 views | Herbivore | He was outstanding again last night. He's technically the best player we've had at Town for years, I'd say in terms of pure tekkers he's better than Omari, albeit they're different kinds of player. His workrate is outstanding as well, really puts in a shift and has become very effective at winning the ball back high up the pitch. He'll end up playing most of his career in the Prem, hopefully with us. | |

Next step is to get him being as good and effective away from home. [Post edited 11 Dec 10:19]

Yep, doesn't matter how difficult a ball it is, 9 times out of 10 he stops it dead. Unreal tekkers.

| Philogene is a brilliant player… on 06:45 - Dec 11 by Dubtractor | If ever there was a player to illustrate the need for patience to let them settle and find their place, it is Philogene. He looked less than a shadow of the player we saw at Hull when he joined us - that Villa move was obviously a disaster for him. He had no confidence, looked weak in possession, offered almost nothing for us. Now he's unplayable when on his game, looks to make things happen every time he gets the ball, is capable of scoring regular worldies, seems to have gained a yard or two in pace, and his work rate off the ball is incredible. That ability to nick the ball back and get us on the counter is really noticeable. 6 months ago I suspect a lot of people though he was a waste of money, whereas now he's probably (alongside Walle Egeli) our most valuable asset in terms of saleability. |
No ‘suspect’ about it. Plenty of people wanted him out and he was top of the haters list. Even quite recently somebody thought we should cut our losses and get rid of Clarke and Philogene. Personally, I think JP is a terrific player. He tries stuff. Doesn’t always succeed but if his markers give him any space he leaves them for dead. He has great close control and is conducting his own goal of the season competition. His appearance is quite languid but despite how he looks he works hard for that team. MOTM for me last night. He’s been here under a year and is a better player than when he arrived. We have some really good players at the club at the moment. When I think of the abject dross McCarthy had to work with, bar a couple, it’s astonishing how far the club has progressed in recent years.
