One of the rare few who showed some interest and fight yesterday, pity the rest of the team chose to pass backwards and sideways rather than him when he got into some decent forward positions.

What Sammie does have, which we lack, is real character and personality on the pitch, a real competitor. Something we had in abundance previously, Chaplin and Morsy standout in that department.
I’d love Sammie to get a run, although I think we’ve seen enough to know the number 10 isn’t his strength.
Real run of games, inside left, leave the left touch line for Leif to be at his best.

No I don’t personally think he could play on the right. Think the profile we have look for in our successes has been a real touchline winger, and an inside forward on the left touch allow
Leif to patrol the left touchline.
Historically at Posh and Blackburn he had his success in the inside left in 3-4-2-1.
That inside left position looks the most natural position for Sammie, and I would be fully behind the idea of him having a run of games there. | | | |

I'm not sure he's earned it. I like his energy and he seems a good character but he's technically not good enough or creative enough to play as a 10 for us and his main asset of breaking into the box is nullified when we're constantly playing sides who sit deep. He's one I'd let go if we got a decent offer. |  |

Him and Akpom are in the mould of 10 that KM wants, they were specific buys for that position. It is just that it isn't working out well at present. Phil said as much via their management. the idea being that they start in the 10 position, and as the midfield pushes up to support the 10 reverts to a second striker to receive through balls. For it to work requires Nunez in a deeper position so he has the field of play on front of him. Something like that. In trut we miss the Luongo/Morsy combo to make it happen. | | | |
