| Just start quickly please! on 10:08 - Dec 20 with 265 views | WestSussexBlue | I can’t decide if this is going to be another whitewash like our 6-0 a couple of seasons back, or a laboured performance where god forbid draw or sneak an underwhelming 2-1. A big win would set us up nicely for the festive games. | | | |

Totally agree. | |

Conceding a goal in transition when we've been going at them would be the worst thing we could do. Guess that's the hardest thing to get right against a low block team.

If that’s the narrative, we’ll need to recycle possession, double pivot and use our 10 to beat the low block, but it’s best to win some fouls and prevent a goal early doors. Sorry, I might be in the wrong thread.

If we start too fast and get hit on the break then we're f@cked against a team that sits deep - is that any better?!

That's like not throwing a punch in boxing because you might get hit back. We should have the quality to do them. [Post edited 20 Dec 11:26]

It's about picking the time and place to show that quality and not leaving gaping holes at the back while we try and do it

But you'd expect that as a minimum from some of the strongest players in the division. Assuming we might screw it up every time someone kicks a ball is a weird take.

That's not at all what I'm saying. Controlled tempo rather than foolish tempo is the point I'm trying to get at. Oxford away a good example of the latter. Taylor playing a pass to try and get something going when our defence was out of shape. That's the kind of foolish tempo we need to avoid early on.

You might as well say "as long as we don't smash into our own net" though. The mentality on here and ITFC social media baffles me right now.

And he's me thinking we want to play front foot football and all the while we really should be cr@pping ourselves that a side at the bottom of the league might hit us on the counter! Sign of the times we have not come from behind to win since forever isn't it.
