Jay Tabb's towering header against Middlesbrough, preceded by some lovely interplay and a fine cross by Teddy Bishop.

December 2014 was definitely our peak under Mick McCarthy.

Possibly the greatest headed goal ever scored by an Ipswich player.

People tend to remember the dour times under Mick but when he had a fully fit squad to choose from and we were in a bit of form, we were capable of playing some very entertaining stuff.

Mick must have been fuming with the lovely football his team were playing for that goal. Bet they got a right rollicking for all that intricate passing

Right now I'd be more entertained by that team in the Autumn of 2014 than I am currently by this team. Such a shame so many people simply discard the first three years of Mick's tenure and prefer to focus on the drabness of the latter years whilst conveniently forgetting his transfer budget was 50p and a curly-wurly.

A lot of people embarrassed themselves back then though to be fair. Arguing for league one ffs.

The trouble is that wasn’t very often. Back to the positive, that Middlesbrough game was the best I saw us play under Mick. We looked like a proper football team (didn’t see the away games bar what was on tv, so correct me if I’m wrong - the Brentford away result springs to mind) and it was an excellent performance.

If I remember rightly, Mick was ill that day and Terry was in charge!

That's the game Bishop bossed and we all thought we had the next Modric

He was class that season. 18 years old and looked a Rolls Royce in a Championship midfield. Such a shame that injuries blighted him so badly over the next few years. He never got back to close to the same player again.

That was the 4-0 win over Boro in February 2013, the biggest win of that season.

Tommy Smith was on a hat-trick in that game.
