You seem to have misread what I said as we scored with 11 minutes to go and then there were 9 minutes injury time. After they scored and until they gifted us the third who did you think looked most likely to score the next?

You worded it badly then. And as you can see from the chart, it was far less than 12 minutes, and we were dominant for several minutes before the goal. I remember turning to my wife when we scored the third, and saying ‘that’s been coming’.
Edit: between their goal on 71 and ours on 87, they had 1 short, way of target, from a corner. Not really a siege, especially since during that 16 minutes, they had the momentum for less than half of that.

That's the problem with the current team. We are so brittle that any little bump on thd road and we fall apart too easily. Today was a perfect example. We are clearly the better team ( not a huge boast ) and are leading by two goals. Then they get a fortunate goal and we are lmmediately under pressure. It's all very uncontrolled and you can never be confident that games can be seen out. Likewise when we go behind we dont seem to have the ability to force our way back into the game. I think the fact we are third is more a reflection on the rest of the Championship rather than a cohesive promotion chasing team. |
Just on your point about a lack of confidence in seeing games out when we concede a goal, all of the evidence suggests that this is something we’ve actually done very well so far this season. Apart from the Southampton and Derby games in August, we have won every match that we’ve led in. Indeed, we are yet to lose a game from a winning position this season.
Where the resilience issue comes into play, especially in comparison with the team of 2023/24, is a failure to win games when trailing, albeit 5 of our draws have come from losing positions, with 3 of those down to goals after the 90th minute. One gets the sense that a 3-2 win from 0-2 down, with the winner coming in the 96th minute may be the thing that this group really needs to get them going. |  | | |

I said we should have been three or four up.
But we weren’t. Equally, Kipre. had to clear one off the line when Walton was beaten and Cajuste stopped a certain equaliser. So both teams had good chances.
But like I said at the time, man for man were are better than them and were always going to make that count.
Is that positive enough for you? Although I do find it odd that a casual observation of where we were at a certain point in the game had managed to get so many comments. [Post edited 20 Dec 23:06]

I just find it interesting that the theshold for what motivates a kneejerk negative swipe is much much lower than the threshold that would result in an encouraging one.

Yep, very experienced and competent core – little on the bench beyond Ugbo and anyone with half a brain could see there was potential for the afternoon to be patchy until they tired. Which is exactly how it played out. | |
