A Marquee striker would be fantastic - but everyone is looking for that 23:21 - Dec 28 with 3816 viewsGrief

in the January Transfer window.

I am sure we have some top targets, but they may not want to come here for whatever reason.

Trust in the process, i , like many were a bit underwhelmed with the arrival of Kieffer Moore two years ago, but he was a major factor in us going up! Whoever we get, give him a chance.

Hirst's injury is a blow, but there is a player here in Azon and with a bit of luck, he could easily be on 6-8 goals. He is another who is working really hard off the ball. get behind hm.

Finally a number of you believed Philogene was a complete waste of money, you all now worship him, McAteer is a decent player, Kmac will improve him too, keep the faith.

Happy New Year to you all, still half the season to go, we have the strongest squad in the division, "the cream rises to the top!"

Dont think hes saying that

But herbz said within our budget. A budget that could have had £12 mill more available had it not been used on mcateer

It doesn't work like that though. Let's say we had £15m available for a striker and not signing McAteer would have meant we had £27m available. Do you think a striker worth £27m would be affordable on a Championship wage? Do you think they'd want to join a Championship club? Real life and Football Manager are two different things.

Think a lot of people have unrealistic expectations on the striker front. January is notoriously difficult to get a decent striker in given people don’t want to sell half way through the season.

Also given our summer outlay was the highest in the league I wouldn’t be surprised if we went down the loan route, maybe hijack Lankshear or something. I just don’t think Piroe is realistic at least not early in the window as clubs want to get cover before moving others on.

Depends how that 27 was spent

Could have been 15 on fees 12 on wages etc. 20 on fee. 7 on wages

I was just sharing what I believed chantry was saying regarding mcateer and your budget mention. That 12 mill does seem like an extreme waste of budget esp if we you are correct wnd that budget is what reduced our ability to sign a striker

12m on wages is ~75k per week over a longish 3 year contract.

You honestly expect or even want Town, in the Championship, to be spending that kind of money on wages over a long commitment period?

It's nonsensical.

Depends what your point is when you mention budget

If its that we ran out of budget then the 12 mill was a wasted spend that could have been used on a striker

Re-read the full post and come back with another guess. It shouldn't be too hard, I wasn't being cryptic and if you can't work it out then I'm not sure further explanation is going to help.

Its usually polite when asked to explain something to do so. But guess thats to much to ask of someone like yourself.

Our striker budget could have been higher if we prioritised the McAteer money on a striker. I don’t see which part of that is up for debate?

That's not what I said. I said that finding a striker in our price range who suits our style of play and wants to join us isn't easy. That we signed McAteer who isn't a striker, was in our price range, and wanted to join us doesn't really have anything to do with that.

But our price range would’ve been £12m higher if we hadn’t spent money on McAteer. That’s their point. And it’s valid.

Money could’ve been used on fee/wages to tempt the quality striker to play for us.

As an aside on Hutchinson, did anyone notice there was no somersault celebration after his equaliser against Citeh on Saturday ? Seems like playing for forest is not quite as joyful as playing for Town.

Daka did it at AFCON and nearly broke his neck. Wouldn't be surprised if managers are saying don't do celebrations where you're at risk of serious injury

You seem to be neglecting the fact McAteer is earning a wage too.

I don't like the digging out of McAteer but Frimley's point is valid in terms of finances.

Don't remember him ever doing a somersault when scoring an equaliser for us but I could be wrong.

Do you honestly believe the reason we didn't sign a striker permanently is because we signed McAteer? My post was about the complexity of trying to find the right striker and unfortunately it's been reduced down to this simplistic nonsense.

It's almost like there isn't a plethora of quality number 9s available within our budget who would fit our style of play and be willing to come here.

Agree with that to an extent, but I really struggle to believe that there wasn't a few options more suitable than Azon. We've left ourselves horribly short up front, for the 3rd season on the spin.

Don't mean to dig out Azon all the time, and I think he's a decent bench option against a tiring defence, but he has looked miles off it when starting. Perhaps he'll become the player we want given time, but he's not the player we need right now.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.
