Taylor calm but combative Nunez creative - another two assists. Didn't notice Matusiwa too much which can only be a good thing. Clarke threatening throughout and the crowning moment was that pre assist. Really classy. Can we play you every week, Frank? Edit: how could I forget Burns? Best moment of the season, it was good enough seeing him on the pitch but for him to stick that way was incredible, and from a similar position to his assist for Moore 18 months ago. I'd start him at Portsmouth, Leif fit or not.

On that note, some of the passing in that first half was lovey to watch, lots of neat one touch moves to create space.

Part of the reason for such good passing was our movement off the ball.

Hope you're right. But the sudden change from Friday to tonight makes me think it's more down to Coventry's style suiting us. If we blast Oxford away on Thursday maybe I'll start believing.

Probably not for a home game.

In both games against us, they have looked poor. Our better calibre of player can exploit the spaces they leave and our defenders are better able to cope with the attacking threat. We need to find a way to beat the low block teams. We are a team of individuals, who will flourish, given space, but look really disjointed against an organised defence. Knowing how this season has gone, we will lose to Oxford on Thursday. It reminds me so much of us and Leeds in our promotion season. In both games against Leeds, they ripped us apart. Yet we finished above them.

I said in the chatroom that both games reminded of us against Leeds in 2023/24, but with us in the Leeds role. Which should act as a warning sign for Coventry.

If Leif has been poorly I would give him another day off considering it’s in 3 days time.

I'd argue that's a bold statement, I think we've just played superbly against top of the of the league. We could quite easily stumble past Oxford unconvincingly, or even draw, and then lose at Portsmouth. It's that kind of season, and I don't think it's overly negative to say that.

Well, yes, there’s always a team trying to stop us winning, and not every team will feel they have to attack us, but that’s 4 points from 2 very tricky away games, 13 points from the last 6 games, when we’ve played a range of approach, bodes well I feel, ( but I’m one of the positives on here so,…)

I do think this sort of statement win loses meaning if you fail to kick on but we have a chance now to put Oxford to the sword and build some momentum, and you'd think confidence would be rushing through the team after tonight. I do fear a drab 0-0 against an organised Oxford is a possibility, which will suck the wind right out of our sails again, but this time I think it's different and we kick on, 3-0 to Town and season truly takes off for me.

No Garv it isn’t overly negative. Nothing would surprise me. But anyone with a memory will remember how long it took McKenna's first team to come together and what was the first thing sorted? The defence. All decent teams at any level start with that and ours has improved no end since the start of the season.

Good post. No doubt we are extremely defensively solid now, with a good spine of Kipre O Shea and Matusiwa. If the attack clicks we will be absolutely laughing
