A break needed. 00:04 - Dec 30 with 7120 viewsWallingford_Boy

What a performance tonight, outstanding.

Yet coming on here, which I’ve been doing for longer than most has taken the edge off the victory.

Phil, Gav and the team, this is a fantastic website, but a few are making it less welcoming and are jumping on every post that they don’t agree with.

A break is needed.

Uppa Towen!

RIP Sir Bobby

" I think it is perfectly fine for a fan to support two teams"?
I think most supporters have a favorite Italian or Spanish side they look for results for, but an Ipswich fan also supporting Leicester?
Have no idea if I have read your post correctly, but if I have, then supporting 2 English clubs is wrong on every level. Just my opinion of course, but I am extremely disappointed with the modern fan if they support 2 English clubs.

I really don't understand what the problem is. Surely a football fan can do as they choose? Why should there be a class system?

Is someone supporting Ipswich + say, a French team more of a worthy fan than one who supports Ipswich + another English team?

Or is that only ok if the English team is a lower league team like Bury Town, or Felixstowe and Walton?

See how ridiculous it is in the grand scheme of things?

So when we play Leicester?
Is a draw the only acceptable result?
Follow another clubs results, but to say they support?

Does the support have to be split 50/50? I'm not sure of the rules you ascribe to.

Perhaps a person can support one (possibly their hometown) club especially, then want another club to win their games unless they play against their preferred club?

It's what my husband does. He supports Liverpool as they are his hometown club, but is a massive supporter of Ipswich too, has had a season ticket for lots of years, cheers them on, invests in and enjoys being part of it, as he has lived in Ipswich for well over 20 years.

He would prefer Liverpool to win a match between the two, but he considers himself a Town fan, and I consider him one, too.

I find that all a bit strange. Just me I suppose.
Who you support as a 10 year old, stays with you forever.
Guess I am just out of date with modern life.

It's the fact it's used as a way of somehow invalidating my posts in here by the likes of your good self.

Anyway, glad you did have a happy Christmas and hopefully there will be less sniping in 2026 on here, and I include myself in that by biting back. A run of Town wins will hopefully see to that

Why the need to be sarcastic and baiting to fellow town supporters! We’re supposed to be mates, pulling in the same direction - I just don’t get this argumentative, criticising stuff of the players and fellow supporters.

But I personally think it fine to have an interest a couple or more teams. Blimey, Giant Ullua (or whoever he is now) is a self confessed wrong ‘un and supports that lot up the road, but he spends half his time on here and we all love him (but that’s probably because we all know that deep down he’s a blue at heart). For me, Town are and I think will always be my #1 team, but I have a soft spot for Spurs and Col U, and always look for their results.

Honest question: what is your gripe with Bounceback? I think it is perfectly fine for a fan to support two teams. Is that what you get upset about? Just seems like there is a lot of sniping in their direction, and I haven't seen any really 'hot takes' or trolling behaviour from said poster.

I always look for Cheltenham Town score (played for them back in the day) but I don't confess to supporting them.
I just can't get my head around supporting 2 English teams. Follow as many as one likes, but support?

Ok since it offends people saying you support 2 teams, going forward I will say I support Leicester and Leicester only. And will stop referring to Town as we, unless I've had a drink and forget. Hope that will placate people who seem to be offended by my posting on here.

I have always had an extremely strong fondness for Ipswich for long as I can remember, probably going back to the epic play off win over Bolton and subsequent 5th place finish and always used to play as Ipswich on the old FIFA's I don't know why I've always had this soft spot other than I think Town have the best badge in the football league and I always liked your kits, who knows how a kids mind works

And as an adult thats been strengthened to my visits to Portman Road and going on the pub rounds before games I think the town of Ipswich is fab and really nice people too.

But yes it's not the same support as you lot who are Ipswich born and bred, I accept that. Would be nice to not have it leveled at my every post on here though and have to periodically make posts like this 'justifying' my presence on here when it gets jumped on.

Ps impressive you played for Cheltenham, was that when they were in the football league, where did you play?

I firmly disagree. It’s always good to support your local side. I’ve had STs at about 5 clubs at all levels from PL to non-league. For those who live away from Town, it’s not always practical to go to our games all the time.

My dad was a big Southampton fan. But when we moved to North East Essex, which was closer to a lot our our family in Ipswich and Colchester, He became an Ipswich season ticket holder (my Grandad followed the Town since the 1950's) and supported us at every game, including both the FA and UEAFA Cup finals.

Never lost his love for he Saints but supported ITFC all the same.

Good stuff. I don’t think you ever lose your love for your first team, but you deprive yourself of some good times and memories if you refuse to even think about watching other sides. And when you watch, you inevitably develop a connection. I’ve been a regular at Chester, Wrexham, Cheltenham and Swansea at various points over the years. I wouldn’t choose any of them over us, but still had some laughs at those other clubs. The Swans have taken me to Wembley 3 times with family & friends. Some great memories.

It's odd how it works isn' t it?

The first game of professional football I was taken to was at Portman Road and it was exactly as Bobby described it.
The next game I was taken to was the '68 European Cup Final.
If my dad hadn't got me to that game versus Palace (courtesy of Jock Hutcheson - ask Phil) I may have ended up supporting a different team.
