| Poor communication today 21:09 - Jan 4 with 1978 views | ITFC_Blood | So why wasn’t the 9am inspection announced? Very simple stick it online to let fans know, then it’s their choice to travel. Feels to me the game was a non starter at 9am and they dragged it out. Poor from town and Pompey, and again no consideration for fans who we know are the last thought. | |

So they can’t advise fans at 9am they have concerns?

Basic communication If you down vote it’s because you don’t go away Poor from both clubs today, you have an inspection at 9am you let fans know Not hard

Any away fan would travel in the knowledge there was risk. I got as far as Guildford, and there was an announcement on thd train (very, very good communications!).

Indeed. Annoying as it was, it is what it is innit. Ok maybe they should’ve communicated the 9am one but people would have still travelled in hope. Wasn’t as bad as the Rotherham one the other year, literally pulled up at the ground as the announcement was made and the weather conditions were more than hazardous - I said at the time though I’d have rather been at the ground and it got postponed than at home and it didn’t.

They can't tell people that the game's called off until it's called off mate.

On the other hand if the game was called off at 8/9am people would probably moan that the decision was made too early. Luckily today was quite a short trip compared to most.

This is the thing innit, modern communications mean that you *can* hold off on announcing these decisions longer, if more time is needed for a full decision. I bet Blackburn were hoping for another flood at half time today.

The word "entitled" has been used by some to describe town home fans a bit on twtd recently but it's definitely the right word to describe some of the away fans whinging today. Having been regular away in the days before mobile phones we only heard en route a game was off when BBC radio said so in an hourly news bulletin, provided the minibus had a radio good enough. We weren't entitled.
| Veni Vidi Participatur. Now we can get back to competing. |

I did think about that on the way back earlier, what on earth did people used to do back in the day haha everyone in the services was refreshing Twitter repeatedly and that’s how we all found out.

You don't know who Sitters is? Oh boy, do some people have no knowledge of TWTD folklore! Deary me - show some respect man!

| Poor communication today on 22:29 - Jan 4 with 1449 views | jasondozzell | It happens. Just felt a bit strange that both clubs gave impression it was in with their tweets early in am before the pitch inspection message. Might have been good to alert us earlier. But I would still have got on the train hoping it was on so not sure it would make much difference. | | | |

Don't see that would make a lot of difference, as fans would continue their journey until the cancellation was confirmed. It would be equally annoying to turn around because concerns have been raised, then the game to go ahead after all.

| Poor communication today on 13:02 - Jan 5 with 722 views | SheffordBlue | Think it's a really difficult situation to judge without knowing what it looked like at 9am and what advice the ground staff gave the managers at that point. If the advice was "with the forecast I reckon it will thaw in time" then an early announcement would end up with people being accused of panicing, etc. Suspect there are have been lots of matches where these types of early provisional pitch inspections take place and we don't hear anything more of it because they agree that "in an hour or two it will probably be fine" and then is! | |

Back in the day, you would have Radio 5 on in the car, awaiting updates on all games postponed. A lot more supporters wouldn’t find out, until they got there though.
| Poor communication today on 16:39 - Jan 5 with 517 views | Meadowlark | We had a nice afternoon/night out in Portsmouth. 3 points would have been nice too, but we were nearly there when it was cancelled and the hotel was already paid for. Discovered a new pub which will be my first stop when the match is reconvened, so not all bad. It was actually fun to sit in a cosy pub and see the clock tick past 3.00pm and not have to move! | | | |
