I don't think it's dramatic to look at some of these extreme whatifs right now. Both in the USA and around the world.

All so he doesn't get scrutinised for being a paedophile and his mates get as much money and power as possible.

Nah, it's just lefty scaremongering mate.

On a more serious note, absolutely agree, and this US administration have a habit of spelling out exactly what they are going to do too. You can't say that anything they have done has been a huge surprise, can you?

The problem is, they're so low intellect that there isn't any posturing or subterfuge is there? I did raise an eyebrow when the fella from NATO said they'd remove America from all their bases immediately.

Likewise, Venezuala and Iran give Trump to settle old scores as he sees it. What's frightening is that his base, much like the far right base in this country will swallow whatever they're told. If he flips 180 on an issue they don't flinch or question it.

This bloke, who has largely been in the shadows, is now starting to make public appearances and statements. Which is quite troubling and suggests emboldenment. He is incredibly sinister. We now have a superpower declaring that they must be "respected" by bending to their will. The mob boss analogy has never been more perfect.

The whole argument about Greenland is entirely specious. Of course Denmark could not defend it fully against a full attack from Russia or China, but there is no serious suggestion that such attack is at all likely. Neither nation could seriously hold the place, with no logistics available, right betwen Europe and the US in the middle of the arctic. More to the point, Denmark doesnt need to defend it because its a Nato territory. Not only are the rest of Europe obliged to defend it, but so is the US.

The idea that its not going to be defended if the US dont own it is plainly dishonest. They can defend it all they want, whether they own it or not. If they would choose not to bother (unless they owned it) then it cant be that important to their national security in the first place. If they would, then they dont need to own it...

This clip though, finally shows a bit of honesty about it and what it is really about. They do intend to defend it if necessary, but think that if they have that obligation they should be paid to do so by means of Greenland's mineral wealth and / or the commercial opportunities they think it represents. Solely about money.

I've been beefing about Miller for some seven years or so. By all appearances, he's a sixth-form nazi with a half-baked understanding of history and human civilisation wrapped up in a romanticised fiction of America's past, but is clever enough to have harnessed and ridden a movement which has got him into a position of power and influence.

Very dangerous individual.

What if... Vlad said to Trump in the back of the Limo

"You want Greenland don't you? Well if you don't take it, I will"

Donny's so thick he thinks this is likely - rather than realising that Putin's playing him so he destroys Nato without the Russians having to having to lift a finger.

Sure, the USA gets the mineral wealth but Europe's back door is left wide open and Russia can't compete economically so it's immaterial from that respect.

It's supposition but we live in strange times.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

More likely that its a deal. "you have Greenland and well have Donbas"

Trump is thick enough to believe that rare earth means "rare" and therefore very valuable.

Your second paragraph is not entirely correct. The Epstein thing is largely irrelevant.

There are people behind Trump who actually believe some of this stuff, want to have a go at being a 19th century empire (but without really understanding how they worked).

The rest are just shameless plunderers, the kind who tried to take advantage of imperialism and often caused rebellions and wars as a result.*

Trump himself just wants to be the most important man in any room, with adulation and gratification from all sides. He is remarkably easy to buy, but his price is very high.

The man is a ghoul. There's a clip of him from his college days doing the rounds at the moment where he was making a speech to try and run for class president or whatever it is they do over there. And he says something like 'why can't I drop my litter all over the place, we have janitors whose job it is to pick it up'. Sums him up really. Entitled, arrogant, sociopathic (if not psychopathic).

It’s so abundantly clear this is abound the mineral deposits and money, and not defence. The US as a NATO “ally” has been told by Denmark and Greenland, that they can increase their military presence on their territory, and there has actually been a tacit agreement they can do so for decades.

Just like Venezuela, it will be resources and monetary power play under false pretext, so that Donny and his mates can pocket more money. I now consider the US at best as an ally we can’t rely upon, at worst with Europe being a meat sandwich with adversaries keen to annex on both sides, with the US now displaying all the traits of 1930’s Germany.

There's no subterfuge because they don't feel they need to. Might is right and the USA has the world's largest economy and most powerful military.

There is no need to trumpet democracy over communism (or fascism) any more. They are trying to appeal to a domestic audience who see themselves as plain-speaking backwoodsmen (even when they live in suburbs and work in offices), not the smooth-talking liberal elites who have failed to deliver economically*. So the cloak is thrown off and they can stride the world stage with macho posturing - much like Putin, but not so carefully**.

* Looking back to a legend of US prosperity which only really existed for about 40 years and was on the back of a wartime boom and the technological explosion soon thereafter. Go back further and you're into the Great Depression, fifty years before that America was only just beginning to build its industrial strength.

** Putin built very slowly and carefully for two decades before he really overstepped. Trump is necessarily much more in a hurry, through age and term limits.

Unfortunately the US is getting what it voted for – the signs were glaring from a long way off, so there aren't any excuses. The entire country has to own it and the (many) good ones have to do something effective against it.

A general feeling of decline, a cost of living crisis, years of being told foreigners are stealing your jobs, displays of wealth all over the media, glorification of the military (in which many more young Americans have served than we're used to in the UK) and the nation's past greatness.

Bad things may not be happening in your town, but they're reported from other places. Everywhere Else (including Washington DC) is a very long way away. Are the proud traditions of your state being undermined by Federal government?

All nagging issues looking for an easy solution.

Then along come people - professing to believe the same things you do - providing an easy target. It's not overt racism, but hatred of the immigrants, who aren't like you, don't believe the same things and to whom your country is being sold from under you. Assisted by Liberals with all sorts of weird, alien beliefs and fetishes, who only ever seem to take and not give back to you. They're going to put a stop to all this, turn the clock back to the good times of your parents and grandparents.

What's not to like?

The fact much of the above is based upon falsehood does not lessen its impact and persuasiveness. It appeals to people's needs and comforting myths.

It is a very useful tool for those who want to lever themselves into power for the purposes of profiteering.

It’s only irrelevant because of the “flood the zone” tactic of pouring enough excrement into the public sphere so stories get buried, obscured and destroyed.

In any sane country a man who was in charge then orchestrated an insurrection or was a massive nonce would be in jail. Let alone being both.
