Not really, but feel free to keep convincing yourself of that.

It's so frustrating hearing idiots in the stands shouting 'get rid of the ball'. Punting it up field and losing possession 9 times out of 10 is a foolish man's game.

It isn’t frustrating. When 2-0 up, let’s not faff around with it at the back so much. Better teams will punish us. There simply is no need to create problems if we are winning comfortably.

Think there are times to do it. Times not too

Km changed it at HT and we saw Blackburn soak up the loose longer balls and came on the attack. But we used that to our gain and went on the counter.. and maybe should have scored 3 or 4 in that 2nd half alone.

So passing it around the back does work.. but it also works the other way. Both bring risks.

There is a happy middle ground. Giving away possession in the middle of the park is slightly better than doing it in front of goal. The ball out to a player facing their own goal and not knowing whats behind them is brainless. Sensible ball retention at the back is a very useful tactic.

And how many times have we seen that ball work brilliantly, as Cajuste (or other) receives the ball, having pulling in a couple of the opposition, turns with aplomb, and we're on the break.

Does it sometimes go wrong? Yes, but that's the risk reward game we play,

Not sure I implied mutiny, but when you try something 5 times and it fails 5 times....?

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

We won 3-0.

Do you know that for a fact - or has he just empowered his team to make decisions on the pitch? We played short and long in the first half too.

Of course im assuming

But when you compare our defensive starting positions first half to 2nd we were different and set up for a more direct half compared to ball at the back.

NOT REALLY. Are you serious? You appear to be arguing with me about things that are said during a game and not what I actually said. You keep telling yourself that it is OK to give away in front of goal. I repeat for the hard of thinking, that I think that playing it round at the back is a good tactic in the right circumstances and if it is applied sensibly. There ARE times when hoofing it up the pitch IS the correct tactic. My preferences are for the long diagonal ball to get the ball quickly to our wingers ( Philogene was unlucky with a 'Cruyff Turn' which he didn't control today ).

We do switch the play, and sometimes lump it away when the players on the field feel it’s the prudent thing to do. However, our core game is to invite the press, and develop openings. When the players are drawing in the opposition, they don’t worry about what might go wrong.

At 2:0 we were still pushing for more goals, so playing our normal game. As it should have been - we weren’t under siege by a team in the ascendancy, but trying to put them to the sword. Lumping it up field mostly, and often giving up possession was not the right approach imo. We’ll just have to agree to disagree.

We definitely looked less for the short out ball during the second half. I’ve no idea whether that was under instruction or on-field choices though (and who cares?).

I actually like the approach, but it seems you can’t suggest something could be done better without people thinking you’re against it. Who knew playing out could be such a touchy subject?

Playing the ball around at the back makes sense when you want to brake a deadlock but we are two goals up and it is an unnecessary risk in these circumstances.

Yes, what's the point of keeping possession when we are 2-0 up when we could lump the ball upfield towards Azon and watch the opposition build an attack?

How many shots did Blackburn have because our playing it out from the back presented them the chance to? How many goals have we conceded this season making a mistake playing it out from the back? I am sure some people who complain about this would quite happily see us pump the ball long every time and end up constantly under the cosh because we can't have any sustained possession. Although they would then complain about our midfield not controlling the game.
