And may God bless…..
Oh wait
Deuteronomy 10:18-19 – “God ensures that orphans and widows receive justice. He shows love to the foreigners living among you and gives them food and clothing. So you, too, must show love to foreigners, for you yourselves were once foreigners.”
Exodus 22:21 – “You must not mistreat or oppress foreigners in any way.” Deuteronomy 24:17 – “True justice must be given to foreigners living among you and to orphans.”
And of course, Joseph, of fighting age, fled to Egypt with his family, that included Jesus…
Awkward…
And what thanks did Joseph's offspring get? Over 200 years of slavery, that's what!!! Hashtag Letmypeoplego.

Unfortunately Al I'm not sure Reform voters can be explained away as easy as this.
I wouldn't be surprised if roughly half my family and friends in the UK at this moment intend to vote Reform. They nearly all live on Haverhills Chalkstone and Parkway estates. Without being to rude, they are rundown sh1te holes.
These places have been neglected by government after government. Now their supposed to just keep blindly voting for the blue or red team believing this time it's gonna be different?
I don't believe for 1 second Farage gives a toss about the working class. But unfortunately neither does Starmer or the Tories. I would suggest that this vacuum as been filled by Farage and its up to the other parties to appeal to these people and suggest a way to improve their lot.
The irony is that the one major party leader of recent years who did give a toss about them (and would have done things to improve their lot) is probably the one they hate the most.

It's the same sh1t stirrer instigating this name calling. They had multiple threads deleted by admin over the weekend, kept their head down for a few days and came back with more of the same whilst offering absolutely nothing positive to the board.
Eat, sleep, rave, repeat.
Looks like the whole thread actually got pulled.
Ah well, another of your awkward, finger-pointing tantrums conveniently consigned to the spreadsheet for future “reinterpretation” then….

Yes, I was being a tad dismissive of the sole motivation for potential Reform voters.
I guess these are the same disenfranchised individuals who cosied up to Boris in 2019 in the mistaken belief he also had their best interests at heart.
I suppose it’s fairer to say that not all Reform voters are racists, but all racists who vote will vote Reform.
Nige is playing a simple but effective game appealing to both groups.
The sadly predictable thing is, of course, they’ll be the first to howl when they realise they’re going to need to pay for insurance for their healthcare needs, Nige doesn’t actually give a shoite about them and there are still foreigners around threatening their British way of life and stealing their benefits.
I suppose we might actually have to go through it before the penny drops once again…

Engagement by friends, family and trusted aqquantances. Because they have been so badly let down by mainstream politicians of both persuasions over the decades that they just aren't listening to them anymore.
To play devils for a second, we keep hearing about people being let down. How have they been let down? Respective governments have provided free education and free healthcare, irrespective of other failures. Over “decades” everyone under 30/40 (maybe even 50 depending how many decades you are talking about) has been provided the opportunity to get an education (and/or free adult education) to gain qualifications and get on. I’ve worked with plenty over the years who did just that and pulled themselves out of their estates. How much should governments provide and where’s the line between self-responsibility and government provision?

I don't think the UK's near stagnant social mobility is primarily down to people not taking self-responsibility. Equality of opportunity is one of the great lies of modern western capitalism. It you're born in a former mining town in the north of England to parents who have been out of work for a decade you are technically entitled to the same free health care and free education and access to higher education as a banker's son living in Kensington. In reality, the aspirations and expectations that will exist for you from a young age, your access to cultural capital that can aid development and future opportunity, and access to a choice of high quality education and work opportunities are all going to be vastly different. Equality of opportunity has done more or less nothing to promote greater substantive equality or to improve social mobility.

Except for “free healthcare” no longer being free in many respects - dentistry, podiatry, dietitian services (the last, shockingly, no longer being available unless you’re clinically obese - never mind if you have inflammatory bowel disease like Crohns, are clinically *under*weight & suffering from malnutrition because your body’s rejecting many types of food) - all three of which essential services I now have to pay for privately, despite being a pensioner on an income that’s less than half the national average.
Luckily I have some savings, but they may not be enough to cover those essential expenses for the rest of my life, and many people don’t have any at all. Remember the stories of those on low incomes having to pull their own teeth out? Thanks tories - not …

Unfortunately Al their just not that easy to explain away. I would guess about half of um have possibly never voted torie ( or rarely voted torie).
Would be surprised if even 10% of um are regular Torie voters.
I would guess ( and it is a guess ) that the majority of um have previously voted Labour or Lib or rarely vote at all.
You are if course correct in suggesting that Nige doesn't give a sh1te about them and they will be the first to suffer when they have to pay health insurance or the NHS is stripped to the bone etc.
But as I’ve pointed out they don't believe the other parties give a sh1te about um so I doubt their gonna be too surprised when Nige does the same.
What's even more weird Al is I would suggest that about half of um are not even that interested or even against immigration. For these it's more about being fed up with the other parties.
Obviously this isn't a very professional poll, but think it gives a slight insight into reforms popularity in 1 distinct area.

agreed, but ed milliband's still doing a good job standing up for the environment despite all the media flak!
He’s doing huge damage in the housing market overall by not including homeowners in his drive to get EPCs up fo at least ‘C’ grade, and focussing exclusively on the PRS, which means in practice that older properties, huge numbers of which are impossible to get up to a C because of how they were constructed, will have to be withdrawn from the rental market, thereby increasing homelessness.

By PRS, do you mean the public (as opposed to private) rental sector?

yes, government should be providing more funding to get energy efficiency up across the board.
think milliband would love it to be more universal

I meant *private* rental sector. The proposed new regs would apply to both, but in practice I doubt there are many, if any, social housing properties that are 19thC or older.

So is what you're saying that a homeowner who currently rents out their home will get help but not a homeowner who might at some stage in the future want to rent out their home?
The reason I ask is that my mother's house would struggle to get up to a C rating but at some stage it might be necessary to rent it out.

No. What I’m saying is that In either or both situations they might qualify for some financial assistance, but in practice, if it’s a 19thC or older property with solid stone walls that already has DG, an efficient modern boiler, and the attic space opened up, yet it still gets only a D rating (as is the case with the tenanted annexe to my own house), then there is no realistic way of getting it up to a C, so it would have to be withdrawn from the rental market.
Might be worth getting a rating re-appraisal though - a poster in a trade magazine said that if you have savings with Skipton BS, you get a couple of freebies, so think I’ll stick £50 in there to qualify!

Doing a bit of digging, it looks like the C requirement doesn't come into force until 2030, but as my mother's bungalow is on a slope and has a wooden floor with a gap to the foundations of up to 8 feet, getting it up to a C could well be a costly task.
