| Poor old Azon on 22:44 - Jan 20 with 348 views | bazza | He looked really lively tonight, just needs that little bit of luck, as it just doesn’t seem like it wants to go in for him. Nice to hear the fans belting out a song for him. | | | |

Not just for the goal, but his long-term confidence from getting that rocket in! Hopefully he realises he can do it now in this league and carry it on.

| Poor old Azon on 22:25 - Jan 20 by Herbivore | He was good when he came on tonight as well. He's not hit his best level consistently this season but he's not been anywhere near as bad as some make out. |
This. | |
| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

| Poor old Azon on 22:25 - Jan 20 by FrimleyBlue | Thats exactly what I mean about how split the fan base is I dont think he was great at all v blackburn as did many others. But many did feel he was great too.. reallt really split. |
I don’t think he’s been as effective as he was 2 years ago. Thought he was decent against Blackburn. Last night was a disappointing cameo but in the greater scheme of things it’s no big deal as we were cruising by then. In his defence, he’s probably still getting back up to full match fitness after his lay off

| Poor old Azon on 22:21 - Jan 20 by FrimleyBlue | Its funny how split the fan base seems on hirst Honestly he looks bloody woeful this season imo. If he wasnt part of the promotion side I dont think hed had half the supporters he does. People saying azon looked like a competiton winner. They're talking about the wrong forward. I dont know whats happened to hirst but I was reallt looking forward to seeing him this season. Last year despite being prem when he played he looked fit. Strong and fast. Now hes falling over. Cant battle. Cant trap the ball. Even our first goal on saturday he miscontrolled it and the ball fell kindly behind him into the path of nunez. Id love to see promo hirst again. Horrid battling forward pushes defenders off the ball. Holds it up and gets the ball spraying around. |
Hirst moved their defenders all over the place against Blackburn and opened up space for Nunez and others. When the long ball came, he battled and he actually did well with the goal. He is a clever player and I thought he had a good game Saturday. Yes, his form has been patchy. He’s the first to say so. He’s also had injuries. But he’s the best CF on our books at the moment. Azon is improving and will hopefully take a little pressure off him.

I hate to be 'that guy', but you are basing this from your sofa aren't you? So you're only seeing what the TV cameras see and not his off-the-ball stuff.

He was excellent against Blackburn and exactly the sort of centre forward performance that makes our system work. His movement is so natural, doesn't give defenders a moments peace and gets his body in well. If you watch him closely the extent to which he moves their defence around with his intelligent movement plays a huge part in creating the space for others. Azon's much lauded performance last night was very Hirst like. Both could do with being a bit more selfish and clinical in good areas, 1 or 2 occasions on Saturday where Hirst was reluctant to swing his left foot at it and opted to find a teammate, but there's a very good reason McKenna threw him straight back in after a layoff. He's not Delap but if he was he wouldn't be here. He is a very good centre forward at this level though. [Post edited 21 Jan 11:53]
